I just got back from NY 2 days ago.

I stayed right at Marriott Marquis Times Square

The gym over looked times square. That was cool. Not too many people can say they did that.

View from my window and same view from the gym.

I would love to say I had an excellent time but that would be a total lie but it was a trip of a lifetime. It was something I would never be able to afford to do on my own. It was my Aunts 65th birthday and she paid my way plus my mothers way. I got spending money as well. I know that they aren't the brightest people in the world but I never thought they were that stupid. Holy shit. The the problem is that they think they are really smart.

3 of our family friends went too but they stayed at a different hotel. They wanted to kidnap me. We met up with them a few times.

The nagging was ridiculous. They were confused that Canada didn't really check the passports and they wouldn't listen to me when I explained that the passports were needed to enter the states after we landed. That is what that stamp is. If I bought something they were right there talking over me and my questions. At one point they grabbed my wallet out of my hands to pay for my purchase. (I asked about this and they seem to think I might make a mistake because all the money is the same color) They don't understand the function of the Concierge.

They can't read maps. I can. Quite well. They didn't trust me with any sort of direction and NY city is laid out like a grid. Any moron can find their way around. Not them, they gotta harass people for directions. And they (mostly my aunt) did this on every corner.

I really hate cigerettes after this. Their whole decision making process is based on their need for nicotine and of course NY in non smoking in public places so they didn't want to eat in any places. They would eat a larger size breakfast of eggs, baccon, hashbrowns and not eat the rest of the day because they drank coffee and smoked their faces off, plus ate candies. I can't do that. I would eat a bowl of cheerios and they would have a fit if I wanted to stop at a market store to buy fruit. I kinda need to eat every 4 hrs and buy water or else I start to feel sick. I bought some bottled juice and they threw it out on me because they thought it went bad because it wasn't in the fridge. <------morons. Bottled juice doesn't go bad. They threw out my banana because their were some black marks on it. There was nothing wrong with my banana. Then if I did get a healthy sandwich (I found a great place called "Taste for you" and my Aunt would just reach in a take 1/2 of it.

I knew all of this going into the trip but I never thought it would be that bad. If she bought something in a store she felt like she could do whatever she wanted. She was lighting up her fucking cigerettes in peoples stores on Broadway. I was so embarrassed. She burnt my hair 3 times. The first time was an accident and I got mad at her. I think she thought it was funny because she did it another 2 times after.

She does have some sort of mental problem tho. Her perception is off. For example I asked her to hold my coffee and she is like "It is burning me! Here take it, take it, it is burning my hands". It is hot, warm actually but it her mind it is burning her. She is walking down the street and there is a small puddle of water and she is like "oh my pant legs, my pant legs are going to get wet" as if the puddle of water is going to jump up and get her wet. She is really unaware too. She talks with her mouth full. It grosses me out because she talks over my food. I kept a napkin over my food when I ate so it wouldn't get spit on.

Things I did.

Went on a 3 harbor tour. I loved it.

Got a $10 fake bill as change. I bought some guys Cologne but the scammer guy switched the bottle on me and when I got back to the hotel it was Hogo and not Hugo. LOL. They guy slipped the fake $10 in my change. Always pay in exact amount from street venders.

Went on that Hop on and Hop off bus. It is like a pass for 28 hrs. I went to all the districts.

That head holding the camera is my aunt.

Picture of where they drop the ball on New Years

Walked all around central park. Some guy tried to pick me up I think. I was standing a ways away from my aunt and mom. Then my aunt had to go bother him for directions. He was basically laughing AT her. He asked me how I put up with them. He was serious. My aunt didn't even get it that he was insulting her. She just became more animated. Went on a horse and buggy ride. (I look huge). My aunt tried to rip the roses off the cart so she could hold them for the picture. I yelled at her. They were glued in. She yanked hard on them too.

Here is a picture of Central Park, just off of 59th street. I am going to frame that one.

No one told my aunt off

The View Restaurant (roof top revolving restaurant) for the birthday dinner. Dinner menu Here is a picture of the view from The View.

I had the summer pea and lobster appetizer. Poor lobster. I had the grilled fillet of beef as the main course. That was my second steak this yr. Here is a picture of my lobster appy.

Here is me.

Went to see Chicago the play. I loved it. I wanted to see more but they are expensive and you have to line up for a long time outside to get the last minute 1/2 off tickets. I think my ticket was about $120

Oh the Turkish Consulate guy was staying at our hotel. At one point my aunt and my mom went out the doors and got separated by security. My aunt started to argue with them and they ended up shoving her outta the way. See, she is stupid. They showed her their badge tho and she asked them where could buy one. I wasn't there. I know they held on of the events there too. I was in the starbucks line up with the security guys.

The Prime minister from India was also staying there. The front desk told us.

I went shopping. I bought 6 pairs of shoes which would probably total $1,200 here. I don't even think I could even find them here. I love fashion ave. I couldn't believe how cheap clothes were. I spent a total of about $1,000. I sent a txt to my girlfriend telling her I was having a shopping orgasm of epic proportions. I swear I got high.
Bought a 4 GB memory card for my camera for $90. A bit cheaper. I thought it was a better deal. I bought some stuff for my girlfriend. She would of loved the shopping. I bought a stuffed elephant for her son. He has to go online and take care of it.

Got my picture taken with a snake.

Empire states building.

I bought some fake Prada bags. A watch that stopped working.

It was Sukkot. I watched this orthodox jewish guys harass some jewish kid working in a restaurant. There was like 8 of them at the doorway trying to get him to come with them to the sukkamobile to pray or whatever. This kid was trying to tell them he was working and he can't. That he was being paid to work. This was in the gold district just down from times square. I think it was the gold district. No picture of the sukkamobile. My ex thought it was hilarious.

I think the thing that made biggest impression on me was the people. The people of NY are some of the nicest people I have met. (No one told my aunt off) I think all the stupid people got knocked off trying to cross the street. Lanes are only a suggestion. I loved Brooklyn. I told my ex he should do a teaching exchange for a yr. I will go too. You can tell a lot from a community from the kids I think. These were happy kids with bright faces. They were joking with the tourists. I think he would have a blast teaching kids like that. I always thought I wasn't for big cities but there are so many people there you are invisible and I kinda like that.

The end.

wow, tnx for the read.

NY looks great and was contemplating taking my wifey there before xmas.
4 nights for under £400 flying British Airways.

Some of the comments about your Aunt remind me of my mother. For her it's an age thing but the irritation can be overwhelming.

I would take her there for sure. The shopping and service is the some of the best in the world. What women wouldn't want to get dressed up in all their new clothes and go out for dinner and a broadway play. If you take a hop on and hop off tour go with Greyline tours and they give a lot of information. They show you were all the celebrities live. Tell you what the rents and costs are. I loved the old building architecture. I would of loved to have walked around more but you know older people.

That carriage pic is indeed not very flattering. Could be due to the retro-shades or something else. And that family stuff is indeed part of the package and everyone has to deal with some issues. Look at the bright side. You know how you might turn out yourself if you go nutty with age. Razz

Retro shades. LOL Ya, I need a good pair of glasses. Those are cheap $10. I was pretty pissed in that picture with her trying to yank the roses off the cart.

And shit man, I would never be like her. Smoking in stores is ignorant. She did weird things before so it isn't just a age thing. I had to drive her to emerg. once because she said she was coughing up blood. I think she brushed her teeth too hard.

The title says - "a portable sukka" ( Very Happy )

Below it's written - "come and bless on the 4 species"
Quote:
The four species

Main article: Four Species

On each of the seven days of Sukkot, the Torah requires the Jew to take Four Species of plants and to grasp and shake them in a specific manner. These species are: the lulav (date palm frond), hadass (bough of a myrtle tree), aravah (willow branch)— these three are actually bound together and collectively referred to as the lulav—and the etrog (a citron, a lemon-like citrus fruit). These plants are usually sold in religious communities during the days preceding the festival. However, in some Reform communities where these plants are not available locally, other plants such as reeds are substituted for one or more of the four species.

thats strange. Shaking plants...well, then again, not really. Herbs and stuff are used in my religion in various ways (as offerings and such)

I swear sometimes, to me, judaism seems more pagan than anything. Tho jews only believe in one god right?

Being too religious is bad. I think that is a truth anywhere.

No one has the right to force their views on other people.

They're doing this because it's considered a very big "mitzvah" to prey on holidays, or to help those who don't have the means for a prayer. Yep they're very stubborn, and in your case where they bothered a man at work is outrageous.
