Ive put this here 1.because i didnt really know where it should go. and 2.selfishly cos i know this forum is popular Smile feel free to move it to what you consider appropriate.

I hope you guys can help me out here Smile

I have recently updated my connection to 20 meg (with Telewest/Virgin)

Now, I grab a load of docs off newsgroups.

Before i updated my connection files came down fine with maybe 1 or 2 corrupt.

However after the upgrade about 30-40% of all files are corrupt and needing pars
to recover them.

I have done all the obvious things.

De-fragged all my drives

Changed the location files d/l to (inc 2 internal sata drives and 1 external usb drive)

basically ive done everything i can think that would cause the corrupt files.

Any pointers? or something blatantly obvious i have missed?

Cheers for any help Smile

I dont think errors are related to increase in download speed. Did you try to download from source other then news?

Hmmm this is really strange. I have no idea. It cant be modem or hdd because they work ok. Try some other app for news? See if that helps.

It may be the Surf modem, to be honest its behind tons of wires so cannot see it atm.. why? do you think thats maybe a factor? if so i'll drag it out

to be honest i just assumed my computer was too crappy to cope with fast d/l speeds. if i knock it down to 2-4 connections in newsbin its fine.. but anything up to the max of 10 then i have problems. Perhaps changing a few options on temp files (stored as they d/l) would help?

But i dont wanna change anything if there is no point, so i'm hoping someone here would have come across a similar probelm and knows a solution.
