I am going to try it out soon. I've got some things I need to do first (not computer related) that are more important.

Please post your thoughts when you get around to trying it out.

So can anyone with a downloaded copy register for a homeserver remote address or do you need to activate with a serial?

I understand that the wpa fix is working for this but don't know if the remote address feature will work.

The remote address is working, you only need an Windows live account registered to setup your domain name from within windows home server settings -> Remote access. You then choose a domain name like: https://yourname.homeserver.com

I just installed it and there is a little 'Microsoft' problem: these morons have not made the server connector compatible with x64 OSes! My main PC is Vista x64 and i can't back it up with home server (i knew that) but worse i can't even install the console app on it... jeez they are pure geniuses. Rolling Eyes The setup process was pretty messy, like an unattended setup, lot of boxes popping up, five of six reboots, etc. Windows server 2003 SP2 is all over, it is installed then only tweaked a bit during the install.

The server connector (over a 32-bit OS) looks ok, the local and remote access work, haven't the time to dig in right now, will do so at night.

Been having some issues so far with this install and don't know why.

Basically when the setup finishes i get the blue setup wizard I hit start/next button and it throws me a error saying Windows Home Server Encountered an Error setup will need to be restarted and than tells you have to restart.

Went to check the Setuperr.log file in the windows folder and contains this:

Error:
Setup detected that the system file named [c:\windows\system32\dpcdll.dll] is not signed properly
by Microsoft. This file could not be restored to the correct Microsoft version.
Use the SFC utility to verify the integrity of the file.

***

Error:
Setup detected that the system file named [c:\windows\system32\pidgen.dll] is not signed properly
by Microsoft. This file could not be restored to the correct Microsoft version.
Use the SFC utility to verify the integrity of the file.

***

Checked the release against the SFV and checks out and i just dont know how to fix this... Any suggestions?

@ fearstyle

Ignore the blue setup wizard, use the task manager to minimize it then disable its startup popup from msconfig > startup. I installed the thing at least 3 times without any change for that, the server works nonetheless. Just configure the server manually from the console.

If thats the case than there is def some thing wrong because the connector consistently throws a error at me stating An unknown Network error has occurred. and only option is back or cancel and it does not find the WHS thing is i know the network is fine IP's are configured correctly on both workstation and the Server and not only can i see the machines in the network neighborhood.

But the connector fails every time

Tried the Windows Home Server Toolkit?

Use the connector troubleshooter, watch at the status while it is processing its 32 tests and there you will be able to see when it fails.
