So does the PS3 play PS2 Backups & Imports without the need of any modding? I remember the PS2 was able to play PSX Backups/Imports without modding and I was hoping the PS3 could pull it off too.

not possible for the moment.... waiting for it to play ps2 backups too, so I can remove my ps2 console from the living room

The PS3 has the backward compatibility but SONY will remove or already did, the chip that make that possible to force poeple to buy PS3 games
