So i'm planning on getting either a iPhone or an Omnia, but i haven't decided wich one yet.

Has anyone here tried them both?
The Omnia has a much better camera wich is a plus.
The iPhone doesn't support MMS-messages out of the box, but unlocking and jailbreaking the iPhone seems very easy with these one-click apps. Are the new iPhone versions supported too? Haven't seen anything about non-unlockable versions.

The iPhone also has a very large community and alot of free apps, wich is a big plus.

Then there's the fact that i've more or less always been aganist Apple products, for the fact that they're heavily overpriced IMO, and iTunes is so bloated and generally ugly Razz But i guess with the unlocking/jailbreaking this isn't much of a problem anymore?

Help me choose, please! Smile

And no fanboy/hater/flaming talk please, i really wanna make a good choice here.

Hm, let me add some pros and cons myself here Razz

- Omnias camera is alot better, also has a flash.
- Can't replace iPhone battery
- Omnia has MicroSD slot
- Omnia has TV-out
- Voice dialing and recording on the Omnia, wich iPhone lacks (thats weird IMO, lacking sound recording?)
- No video recording on the iPhone?

Even if i won't use all of these features alot, it's still good to know that they're there, cause one day you might need them..

iPhone all the way. Think im gonna restore mine (still on 1.1.4)

Lots of new cool things with 2+ FW. Like the spore version for iPhone Very Happy
the Clydia (package prog) doesn't support 1x FW anymore :\

Im still not bored with my iPhone and yes its the community that makes it good. The other stuff isn't _that_ impressive. At least not anymore. I gave 2300 NOK for it (from USA) The dollar is a bit higher now tho. But id still get it from USA or some other place. I laugh of people that get it overpriced as hell and with Netcom (locked 12 months)

In Sweden, Telia probably sells iPhone with locked abb.? Only Swedish provider I know of ^^

The pricing isn't a factor since i'll get with a carrier contract, so either phone is free.

Telia is the only carrier in Sweden that has the iPhone. Some exclusivity deal i think.

Yeah same with Netcom. We only have 2 big carriers here; Netcom and Telenor

Omnia:
+ flexibility, tons of software for all your possible needs
+ plays AVIs of ANY bitrate w/o conversion. download, transfer to phone and watch'em
+ camera is not just "better than Iphone", it's a totally different class (autofocus etc.)
- none

Iphone:
+ it's an Apple gadget
+ very good as video player but movies need to be converted
- still not enough software, whatever they tell you
- camera is crap
- no multi-tasking <- that kills Iphone as competitor instantly

In the end the Iphone is basically a nice phone with a good player and some nice apps to show your freinds. They can't be used really, but it's nice to show off.

With Omnia you have all the software created during the last few years, an amazing camera and a video player for all the new releases w/o conversion.

Good boy Smile Now feel free to bug me about stuff when it arrives. For example, you have to fine tune the vid player to get the best experience etc.

Already decided to install SPB Mobile Shell 2 when i get it, hah Very Happy

But since its a new contract it can take uo to two weeks before i recieve it. Most likely sooner, but not until next week atleast Razz

You may be disappointed with SPB MS. There are some other facelifting apps if you wanna change the appearance.

What? The omnia doesn't even support wireless lan. A friend of mine has the omnia. Oh my god, that phone sucks big time! It's reacting VERY slow, the touchscreen isn't half as good as iphones and everything seems to run on a 386 with 20mhz :/ I don't the iphone very much but it is alot better than the omnia. Maybe you should have considered buying a HTC ...

Doesn't have WLAN? Lol. Of course it does! And it's fast as hell - as soon as you disable Samsung's Today plugins Very Happy

As I said in the other thread - WM communucators are for advanced users who know how to handle their devices.

Haha, ofcourse it has Wi-Fi!

And as V-R said, as long as you know what you're doing, you can tweak it a little.
