Escape Dead Island is a stealth-reliant (and story-focused) game. Those two things are interwoven, too. Escape is in part a response to critique of the series' absent characterization and story (hence no multiplayer). There's even a mysterious, Emmy-winning writer behind the script.
The story, like the aforementioned Groundhog's Day, loops. Escape's lead is part of a three-person documentary team trying to figure out what's going on on the closed off island from the first game (it's six week after those events and bridges Dead Islands 1 and 2). This, of course, gets the three stranded on a terrible island of zombies.
You play as Cliff, the loudmouth of the group. He's got some obnoxious combat barks. Cliff's (other) problem is that he keeps waking up at 4:37 and going through time loops, during which he will end up scavenging items that will then be used to open up new available branches. It's a fairly linear world, but with different branches, a "3D Metroidvania, like Darksiders or Zelda." Cliff also experiences color-drained Insanity segments.

dont see anything cell shading much on that vid but I guess its a poor quality video anyhow, on another note I like really well done cell shaded games.

Game sure looks crap. I liked Dead Islands because they were fun first person zombie-killing simulators with pretty realistic look. Now they made this third person, with shitty cel-shaded look Looks more like an indie game.
I'd expect this to cost $25 at most...not $40

yep it looks like indie spinoff and pretty much it is - looking at Fatsharks portfolio (Lead and Gold, Hamilton's Great Adventure, Krater , War of Roses/Viking)
But yeah it would be fine as 25 , 40 buck is seriously overpriced - but that just Deep Silvers greed - look at SACR(ap)ED 3 still has 50 bucks pricetag
Well it doesn't work fine for me, HTML5 or Flash player, nothing worked. I had to update to Firefox 34 beta in order to get it working. No 60fps, of course, but at least the videos work in PeasantVision.

It could be nice story bridge between DI+R and DI2 and really like more survivalish vibe and idea of insanity segments
