Race Driver: GRID
- Official web page: LINK
- Publisher: Codemasters
- Developer: Codemasters
- Genre: Racing
- Release date: Mid 2008
- Story/Description:
Quote: |
Race Driver: GRID™ Is all about the race- that period from lights to flag; full of tension, pressure, noise, and action.
Race Driver: GRID will take players to beautifully realised and dramatic race locations over three continents to compete in an unprecedented variety of racing events. Packed with the most powerful race cars
– new and classic, circuit and drift – players will compete to conquer the most prestigious official race tracks and championships and then go beyond to compete in challenging city-based competitions,
through to road events and urban street races.
In Europe, race gamers will compete on the greatest official tracks in prestige Marques including Aston Martin, Koenigsegg and Pagani. Iconic cities across the U.S. – including San Francisco, Washington DC
and Detroit and each with their own atmosphere and events – play hosts to diverse street races. Here, high-performance V8 muscle cars set the pace in aggressive closely fought pack competitions.
In the Far East, Japanese racing culture sets the tone where night races, including Drift racing, take drivers through neon illuminated cities and to outlying mountain roads. There is also the opportunity to
compete in races that operate on the fringes of legality in the back streets and industrial areas of Yokohama.
Race Driver: GRID is coming mid 2008 for the Xbox®360, PLAYSTATION®3 system and Games for Windows®.

Either they optimized the code infinitely, or the trailer is prerendered. I mean, Dirt had major slowdowns when more than few vehicles were on screen (yes, even on consoles, so not that much of a porting bug), and here in this trailer there were so many cars on screen, and everything ran so smooth. I'll believe it when I see it running for real.

I agree with Leo. The framerate is smoother than a Brazilian model's ass. Although it says "Actual Gameplay Footage", I'll have to see it live.

Well I don't see anything 'special' about that trailer..why couldn't that be in-game? Not like its super awesome imo.
Squirrely: Now come on y'all. We can't waste time arguing. There could still be survivors out there. We need to hunt them down, and kill them.
Beary: How about we kill them, and then rape their bodies so we can use their blood as lubricant.

Watch it again. Having the Dirt engine have more than 4 cars with smooth framerate is mighty 'special' lmao.

One of the best trailers that I've seen. Perfect!
The people who claim DiRT runs bad are still living in P4 3Ghz and 7600GT ages. As BAP1922 pointed out the game is silky smooth maxed out 1680x1050 4xAA 8xAniso on recent hardware even with many cars on screen.
C2D E6750 @ 3.2Ghz, 4GB 800MHz DDR2 4-4-4-12, GeForce GTX 260 c216 OC 896MB, 3.2TB, Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Xbox 360 Elite, PS2 Slim, Xbox

Yes, I'm sure my (and so many others') 8800GTX and E6600 are equal to P4 and 7600GT...
