Do love paradox games, but unsure of this one. Anyone tried it? Is it fun? Any similarities with other paradox games ?

Sengoku was a test run for Crusader Kings 2. This smells like the same for EU4.

I doubt it. This is such a small time frame and the focus is almost purely on war. From what I've heard it's kinda like Hearts of iron.

What are you smoking? Rome was awesome and I hope they do R2 after EU4.

It's from the same team that made Sengoku, and it looks more like modded CK2 than what is seen in EU4. Dev diaries show completely new combat mechanic in EU4 and here we still have the one from CK2. Sure there are couple of perks added, reserves, experience, player control over tactics for each flank, but deep underneath it's still core CK2 mechanics and that really is not suitable for the time period.

Rome and Sengoku were infamous Paradox titles because they never received the post-release attention from devs that the lead titles such as EU3 had and lacked the depth of their other games -> no modders cared (except for a few) to keep the games alive.

Yes Rome had an interesting setting but that's it. MotE is, despite what Paradox markets, is just another EU3/Vicky2 hybrid where you pingpong the dumb AI armies around. The real deal will be EU4, much like it was with CK2 and Sengoku.

Well, maybe. I'd still like to see a R2. But I do agree with you on MotE and Sengoku.

This is a multiplayer game. I played prussia for a while. Took al the objectives i could without joining a coalition and then the game is done: yes you can join one of the coalitions, but UK/France will lead the coalition, you can only help them win the "big war". It is fun to do this MP with a couple of friends, but in SP this does not make a lot of sense. It is very hard to win the game not playing as france/uk. The game has potential, but is under developed just like sengoku and eu rome.

Paradox games are notorious for being under developed when released Sad

Eventually most of them turn into absolutely great games, but at release, shocking.

Totally, I loved Rome and hope they make a comeback with it. Maybe they will with the fact that Rome 2: Total War is in the making so they'll bank on Rome-fannism Smile

+1

Sengoku, Pride of Nations were the groundworks for CK2 and Victoria2: A House Divided. Not bad games either of those two.

With a bit of luck, March of The Eagles will turn into a decent game too. But Paradox has three releases coming this year: Victoria 2 new expansion, East vs West and EU4, so i kind of doubt it.
