Tell them you are really sensitive to pain then. I think that stuff just makes you feel like puking after. I know T3's really hurt my stomach so I don't take them.
Still the whole procedure doesn't sound nice. Lances, drainage. near tailbone, the bum.

You kno what you do? First say t3's make your stomach hurt and then percocet, then they give your oxy.
Thats how it is with my teeth. Anything with acetemenophin in it makes me sick. So any painkiller with it in it, i cant have.

best wishes,
the best way to handle painkillers is to go non perscription, many times taking one tylenol and one advil is just as good if not better than T3s as they both block pain but in different ways.

If you shave your ass you'll get a hell of alot more ingrown hairs.

ive had three of those cyst's, all around the same time of year for 3 years now and that is the worst pain i have ever felt in my life. first time this happened, i let it go for two weeks and finally worked up the courage to needle myself, which i didnt even feel surpising, the skin was so tight i just had to scratch it lol - ruined 3 handtowels and a pair of boxers followed by the smell of a rotting carcass
anyways.. hope it goes better for you

I've had surgery to a Pilonidal Cyst almost two years ago, it was awful.
The surgery itself wasn't bad, and my cyst hurt a lot. The post-surgery was bad, because of two dumb nurses who couldn't do a proper sterilized job (it had to be cleaned and bandaged new everyday), it infected. It was supposed to be a one-month recovery, it took 6.
After the infection, i went to the hospital everyday, as i knew there they did a proper job, they had to use Dakin's Solution (it's almost lye):
Quote: | Highly diluted, neutral antiseptic solution for cleansing wounds. Consists of sodium hypochlorite (0,45 % to 0,5 %) and boric acid (4 %). Its solvent action on dead cells hastens the separation of dead from living tissue. |
I was able to use one of those donut-shaped pillows after 5 months, but i still couldn't drive
What i said is not meant to disencourage you, i don't know the extent of yours, mine was huge due to a previous wrong diagnostic, just be sure that they do the everyday cleaning right

He's not supposed to sit down for at least a month, he can't stress the surgical wound, so painkillers won't help as to tell him if he's pushing it too much
I took a mild painkiller at the time, for the first 3 days, then i didn't need it

I hope everything works out for you, I am not sure what I would do if I could not sit down?

Those holes are the cyst's drains (when i had mine i explored around a bit, i think it was it), the heaps of hair probably caused it. My case was because of ingrown hairs, due to a small injury up and beetween the cheeks (almost at the end of the crack)
This picture is quite explicit:
@Martian123:
If his cyst is small, he'll be able to sit after a month or so, in my case, i wasn't able to sit down for 5. Even with the special pillow or sitting sideways it hurt like hell for more than 15m
