Though Pages & Numbers suit me fine, just out of curiosity I installed Microsoft Office 2008 Home and Student Edition.

I had to "repair" all fonts from the local and user domains after install as the installer messes with them pretty bad. Crying or Very sad

Office 2004 for Mac OS X stored fonts inside apps bundles - very un-mac-os-x-way. In Office 2008 they store them inside local domain [ /Library/Fonts/ ] & user domain [ /Users/*user's home folder*/Library/Fonts/ ] BUT they don't give a flying fuck if font in question already exists in there. They just put theirs version, moving previous into "Fonts Disabled" folder of local or user domains. AND process seems random, some of my old fonts in user domain ended in local domain's "Fonts Disabled" folder. Shocked

Leopard has a lot of opentype and/or unicode based fonts, so in order to get them back I had to combine all "Fonts Disabled" fonts in user domain's "Fonts" folder and filter thru all duplicates in Font Book app.

So, if you want to keep Leopard's fonts be sure to do custom install and remove checkmark from "Office Fonts". Although this way you would lose office 2008's specific fonts. Unfortunately, the best way is to just unpack fonts package inside installer bundle and install them by hand.

Read not to contradict and confute, nor to believe and take for granted, but to weigh and consider.

To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world.

In all your remembering, remember that you have choices
