they probably have it like that so if levine was on the bioshock 2 project he wouldn't piss the shit out of the team again and make them quit
i heard about this a few days ago though, makes me curious what he did to piss them off so bad lol

And I fucking quote:
Quote: |
2K Boston is still recovering - a good chunk of the BioShock team did not want to work with Ken ever again, and 2K definitely understood the sentiment and let them set up a new studio so that they can make Bioshock 2, leaving Ken with Project X |
That's what that fucker gets for selling out. Effin piece of shit. |
I really hope this is true. But...with everything else to show the track records of big shitty publishers(which is pretty much all of em), I'd have to go with the rumor/speculation that ken levine is going to lead some new generic bunch of devs with a bit of talent and no soul that are told to make part 2 of bioshock 'more shiney looking' and not much else.
I'd love to see a game that actually does what the Bioshock team set out to do before converting it into another multi-million selling mindless console kiddy game but I'll believe it when I see it.

Sadly a lot of history's greatest geniuses has been right bastards. Personally I wouldn't want to work with one even if he was responsible for inventing odourless farts. I'm not calling the git a genius or anything just trying to establish that genius has no ethical standards, they come in all size and shapes. Life's too short to spend every day working with a tosser for a boss. And if my whole fucking dev-team was jumping my ship I would take that as a strong clue that my leadership skills needed some serious redirecting.
It's like what a friend told me a couple of years ago. After his fifth girlfriend - or so - in three years left him he seriously had to start considering if it was something about him after all. That kind of insight can't be bought, you have to learn it.

|
 |
Quote: | Take Two has announced that BioShock 2 will be released in fiscal Q4 2009. As the publisher's fiscal year matches the calendar year, that means we'll see it somewhere in the October-December period next year.
Interestingly, Take Two hasn't set Ken Levine's 2K Boston (formerly Irrational Games) to work on this one, preferring recently-formed studio 2K Marin, based in Novato, California, for what's inevitably going to be among the most highly anticipated sequels of 2009.
When Take Two announced 2K Marin's formation in December, the company said the studio would "build upon [2K's] success in creating and leveraging AAA franchises". Go team leverage! BioShock has now sold over 2 million units worldwide, Take Two pointed out today.
Platforms and other details were not mentioned (the first one was PC and 360, if you've already forgotten), and nor were details of what Levine/2K Boston are up to. We'll let you know when we do.
It will certainly be interesting to see how 2K Marin approaches a BioShock follow-up. Events in the first game would suggest it's unlikely we'll see a return to Rapture unless we're in prequel territory. What do you reckon?

Quote: | Speaking with an analyst in a postearnings conference call, Take-Two Chairman Strauss Zelnick confirmed that Ken Levine, head of former Irrational studios 2K Boston and 2K Australia, would be involved with the project--as well as an all-new mystery game. "Ken is a terrific asset to the company, brilliant game designer," reassured Zelnick. He also reconfirmed Levine is working on "a new IP." |

Its not a bad game at all. It has a great story, great gameplay elements.
Just because its not a mindless blast fest like 99% of the FPS of last year you say its boring?
May I remind you that both ways it goes your opinion.. YOU think its boringshock.
There is another 50 people who loved it, so do one.
As for Ken, I think he had the right things in mind but just went the wrong way about it. They didnt want the game to be pirated, so they tried something new.
Jesus christ lighten up, if it wasnt for people trying new things wed still be in the caves bashing women with clubs.
So the protection sucked, it went wrong for them in the end. Big fucking deal. The guy still completed an amazing game which will go down as one of the best ever made.

ya, that and the replay value, they really shouldn't have made it possible to near upgrade EVERY weapon, better hacking, and skill usage etc

Bah, Bioshock was poor. On its own it was an average-ish shooter, but as the supposedly 'spiritual successor' to System Shock 2 it failed miserably.

I really wish the updated option of life chambers being turned off was available on release, cos that way the first play through would have been much harder and more enjoyable.

i think bioshock came after long long weeks without decent game to play and with the fun's of the series together the fire was unstopable, and now i can see here that alot kinda disappointed of it..and me too thinks people did and talk of it way way too mutch..was just a fps with some intresting aspects, but after all it was just fps. but again..the timing of the release was perffect for the sales.
do you remember what a big thread become of it..i think above 200pages lol..it was like hlaf life 2..lots of noise and after ...disappointment, but you know what...i still like half life 2 mutch more than bioshock two deffrent games, but still.

It's the same thing with some movies, but that doesn't necessarily mean the one you went through only once is worse than a game or movie you watched/played ten times.
How Levine handled Irrational and his 'crew' and a poor ending aside, I thought BioShock was a really great experience. While not exactly ground-breaking, the story was well-told. Nothing new either, but very fitting, was the plasmids, that did make the gameplay quite dynamic, if not any less linear when it comes to the level design. The level design is what I found to be the most extraordinary - the world of Rapture looks unique in all respects and it never repeats itself. Each location is something of it's own, and it's very rare to find repeating textures or objects. It's clear to me that this is where they put the most work in.
