|
 |
So today I kinda felt like an MMORPG but not sure which to go for, Final Fantasy XI, Tabula Rasa, Dark Age Of Camelot (Not so sure but it's cheap so meh), City of Heroes/Villans. Final Fantasy XI I was recommended but is it an Action RPG like other MMORPGs or does it go into a seperate screen (Stupid question for an MMO but this is Square Enix, they were turn-based uptil XII) and not sure about the character customization.
Also I would go LOTRO but its $100 just for the game and for an MMORPG thats a bit much and I already got WoW but got bored.

If you got bored of WOW, may as well save your money. they pretty much all play the same.
However, if interesting PVP would intrigue you... I would say give Dark Age of Camelot a shot.
I own all those games listed above (and then some) except for City of Villains.
Eve online... extremely complicated. And instead of grinding you way to levels, you actually have to "wait" for your character to gain the experience in the required skills.
Does look interesting, but I wouldnt attempt it if you didn't have someone you know hwo alreayd knows the game. 14 day free trial though to see for yourself.

final fantasy 11 is similar to final fantasy 12 in the way it works, just that you only have a single character and control him directly. it's really for hardcore players. its one of the hardest MMORPGs I've ever played, a single mistake will get your whole party killed easily and most people are extremely far ahead as it's a very old MMO and it'll be hard to find groups.
I'd go for lotro if I were you. it seems like a good game. but why teh hell is it 100$? it's 25€ here + a free month.

Apparently EVE Online is really PvP oriented and I'm not that focused on PvP, just to pass time when I'm bored/got good gear, I just don't see it that interesting, at first it was but it lost its appeal. I think I'll go with City Of Heroes Good Vs Evil Edition since FFXI is too hard, thanks for your help.

I would say none. The only one I ever enjoyed was Star Wars Galaxies but like said above they all play the same basically run around forever leveling up.I gets really boring fast and eats up your time.I gave them up.

playing Ultima Online on good freeshards is nice too.
i tried lotro for 2 weeks after release, wouldn recommend it. dont know if i leveled too fast ( i doubt that) or just too few people on the server. but i literally searched for groups in the later zones for hours. and my class was a bard (healer). cancelled my account after i tried to give the game some more chances.

I has it but not the expansions, City Of Heroes is different in the sense that its not just another Medieval type, and as for Star Wars Galaxies, 2 things I absolutely hate about MMORPGs is Sony Online Entertainment, everything thats gold that they touch turns to lead, and Games For Windows - LIVE, its Microsoft, plain and simple.

I personaly would wait a few more months & see what Age of Conan will have to offer. Personaly my gut feeling tells me that it has alot going for it. Especially concidering it's aimed at a more mature crowd, gritty, bloody, sexy, deadly, everyone looks pretty unique the world looks beautifull but dreadfull. It seems more slow passed then wow which I am fine with myself but its all about your own tastes.

Want a true grindfest? Find lineage 2 private servers, LAWL.
I'm just awaiting Age of Conan at the moment.
I've pretty much played every MM in existence.. as it's my genre of choice and there aren't THAT many out there yet. I haven't played all the stupid little korean games, but most that are big in NA.
At the moment, the MM with the highest ratings are Tabula Rasa, Warhammer (not released) and EQ2 per MMORPG.COM. EQ2 was pretty good when I went back and gave it a shot, but very grind heavy.

Does such a game exist? preferably free or at least cheap as i dont have much time to play nowadays.. cheers |
Only mmo that coming out close to old UO days is gonna be Age of Conan, but your castle can be seige by other players. I don't think there any more cheap mmo like the old days 9.95$ us, even UO raised their price.

Eve-Online / Lotro << best 2 on the market at this time.
I think age of conan might be good when its finaly out but cant be positive..

2 weeks after release, heh not a good time to be judging a mmo really, i guess u gave it a go though thats the main thing. maybe not for you.
Its a nice change from wow, and the more I keep playing it better it gets.. A and its turbine They did the best mmo ever and that was asherons call 1 (not 2 ms fecked that up when they bought it)..

If u dont doing jack shit all day, then Eve is not ur thing, and if U don't like WoW, there are no cool mmorpgs. Every old mmo has not enough player base to support the game (Neocron, daoc, ac, anything really)
I beta'ed Hellgate + Tabula Rasa didn't like both of em.
Free Korean / Asian MMOrpgs are usually big ass grind fests, if ur in to that u can literally play 100s of mmorpgs.
Things that are coming up that MIGHT be cool:
Jumpgate Evolution
Huxley (doubt its gonna be cool tho)
Warhammer Online( might be like wow, is in closed beta)
Age of Conan ( Like duke nukem forever, it been delayed and delayed again, and again... )
Also hear that AoC is gonna be carebear deluxe.
PIRAATJE~!!!!!

My personal preference is COH/COV. I hated WOW and couldn't get into either LOTR or EQ. I played SWG for a while (after the NGE) and enjoyed it but got annoyed at the lack of polish and the community is one of the worst in MMO history.
My advice is to get demos for some of the games mentioned in this thread and give each a shot. Putting the game aside the other things you should always look for in a good MMO is quality of Dev team, Co. commitment to the game and of course the community.
Good luck!
