http://cybernations.net/
It's an browser based game where you run a country. You can set taxes, buy military units, wage wars, and so on. It's actually really fun. You can also be a part of an alliance, which is a very good idea since most alliances allow their members to raid non-aligned countries, which basically means that if you're unaligned you're a target for everyone. It's completely free, and it's actually a lot of fun.
Also, if you're already playing it and you're un-aligned, i would like to point your attention to the alliance that i'm a member of. You might think i'm getting something out of trying to recruit you, but i'm not. I just want to make my alliance the largest and strongest (we're currently the 3rd trongest alliance in the game). So if you think this game seems interesting and you decide to create a nation, do me a favour and go to our forum and register an account, and then apply for membership into my alliance.
We have many benefits (not least of which is the protection of the 3rd most powerful alliance in the game, which is also allied with many of the most powerful other alliances). All new members get 100,000 of in game money as starting aid, and there are many other aid programs to help you grow as your nation get larger and older.
Here's our forum. Create an account, and then apply for membership. http://www.alfatech.be/phpBB2_test/viewtopic.php?t=1772

Well, one person so far from nforce has signed up and is going to join my alliance. So, anyone else? The more the merrier. Seriously, this game is tons of fun. Not just the game itself, but conducting alliance/non aligned politics on the official forums is tons of fun too. Every couple of months some leader of some large alliance fucks up and starts an alliance war with thousands of nations fighting eachother. Just a few months ago my alliance was involved in a world war against an alliance made up almost entirely of people from the something awful forums. I LOL'd so fucking hard at the start of the war when they talked shit and called us pussies and said we were weak, and couldn't handle them, and a month later they were completely destroyed. Granted, it was a pretty unfair fight (our side had like 15 alliances with several thousand nations while they only had like 4 alliances with less than 2000 nations). Oh, and by the way you don't have to log in every single day. You only have to log in every 19 days (your nation gets deleted after 20 days of inactivity) and then collect taxes and spend it all, and then you don't have to log in for another 19 days. It's all up to you. Your taxes get accumulated every day, so there is no penalty to not logging in every day (other than missing some important alliance event or something).

Yeah, the same thing happened to me. Ignore them though! My alliance is way better. Not only are we the third strongest in the game, we are also allied with many of the strongest alliances as well. Plus, we have tons of aid programs to help our members grow. Not only do all new members get 100k when they join, you can also get literally tens of millions more as you grow and meet certain criteria. Plus, if you're ever attacked, other alliance members will come to your aid, and once the dispute is resolved, you'll get reconstruction aid to repair any damage you might have sustained. Seriosuly, join IRON (independent republic of orange nations) NAO!!!!111
BTW, what's your nation name cartoon?

So are you going to join IRON, Cartoon? If you don't join an alliance soon, people are going to start raiding you for money and technology. And since you have to join an alliance sooner or later, it might as well be the one that i'm in
Being in an alliance is generally good for you in every way. Like this one time, i payed a guy 200k to be my trading partner since my other trading partners quit on me. We came to the agreement that he would never cancel the trade unless he payed the money back. So anyway, 2 days later the dipshit cancels on me, and says he can't afford to pay back the money, and that i'll have to wait at least a month. When i point out to him that there may be consequences for such a course of action, he merely mocks me, and dares me to try to do anything about it. I couldn't attack him, since he was too small for my powerful nation, and larger nations are prevented from attacking smaller ones. So i went to my alliance and explained my little problem. One of the members of the alliance government sent him a PM and told him to either re-accept the trade deal with me or he'd send 3 IRON nations twice his size to attack him simultaneously and not stop until he was completely destroyed. Needless to say, i got my trade back the same day, even though he said it'd take at least a month With benefits like those, how can you afford NOT to join IRON?

Well start by creating a nation. Then you'll have to join an alliance. You don't have to absolutely join IRON if you don't want to, but i would prefer it if you did since it's my alliance, and the more people we get the better. If you want to join IRON simply go to the link i posted in my first post. If you have any questions, you can PM me.

Well I've had an account for about two 1/2 days now, I'm just setting up my trade partners.. But I'm still trying to find out how to get some financial aid to help me quick start my economy.
It is very fun negotiating with people to get trade rights, I've enjoyed that part so far. I look forward to the politics.

Hey I'm in IRON, for about a year and a half now. I'm a top-10 member now since the Goon War.
antihexe you should join a tech-trading ring. Us old nations will pay millions for some cheap tech.

Sorry I'm not the leadership type, just got a lot of nation strength is all.
Commanding officers need a lot of experience with wars and coordination, but IRON needs lots of help with other areas. From the academy to ambassadors, there are lots of places for you to show leadership so you can eventually move up.
