A friend of mine has recently bought a MacBook on a portuguese auction store like eBay, and when he received it everything was fine, but there was a small problem that I'm not able to solve even after googling it for days, he received the MacBook without any CD/DVD containing MAC OS, and it is currently installed with MAC OS X white rabbit, and the problem is the following, he can only login as guest because he doens't have the admin password, and as guest he cannot configure the MacBook, he basicly cannot do anything that he wants to do.
I've googled for some days noe, and it seems to me that the only way to reset the admin password is to boot MAC OS X installation DVD, so then I downloaded APPLE.MAC.OSX.LEOPARD.V10.5.ISO-OSX, extracted and eveything fine until this point, then the problem begins with the .DMG file, I couldn't find a way to sucessefully burn it within windows, I've tried renaming the extension to .ISO and nero prompted an error at the end of the burnt, after that I've google some more and tried a program called TransMac, crashed half way through, then installed MacDrive and it just prompt there where no avaiable recording devices.
then after 4 DVD +R DL wasted and some more googling I found a place explaining that I could mount the .dmg in the mac, create another partition in the disk using disk utility and use the boot the mounted image at startup, but as I gained a little hope with this procedure it quickly vanished away as I realized that I couldn't complete this method because disk utility would simply ask me for the admin password.
so basicly my problem is this, I have a MacBook with MAC OS X installed but it's worthless since I cannot do anything with it because it's always asking me for the admin password that we don't have.
the only thing that can be done to solve this is by having a bootable DVD, I can't find a way to burn my image on windows, the Macbook doesn't record DVDs, (and even if it did I would need the admin password to do it)
I don't have anyone can could lend me a MAC OS DVD, and buying it is out of the question, the only reason my friend bought the Macbook was because it was a bargain, he won't pay more for the mac os than he did for the macbook.
I'm due to return the macbook tomorrow, is there anything that I could do to solve this problem or is it really worthless?

Try UltraIso to convert your DMG file in a BIN/CUE format, then burn it.

I've tried UltraIso, I've convert it to .ISO and then burnt it, the DVD wasn't bootable, the only avaiable stuff after conversion was the bootcamp, when I burn it after conversion to .iso the image remained with the same size ~6.6 Gb but when in the DVD it only burnt ~500 Mb, and I can't afford to waste any more DVD +R DL, I've already wasted some €15 on DVD's.

and here http://www.nfohump.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=39812
-== EDIT ==-
Ronhrin, I am making .dmg image of mac osx 10.4 and will try to burn it on DVD-RW via mac drive 7.0.10 and see if it will be bootable.
As for burning Leopard via TransMac it burned mac os x partition only, skipping BootCamp drivers.

thanks, but I've finally managed to burn a bootable dvd, and it actually was easier than expected.
only used transmac, here's what I did, 2 steps only, first I "expand compressed .dmg file" it took some 15 minutes to uncompress the 6.6 Gb .dmg to a 7.5 Gb one, and then, also in transmac I only had to burn the uncompressed .dmg to my last DVD +R DL, and after finish the burnt, it worked like a charm, I'm installing it right now on the MacBook.
after 3 days of googling, €15 on wasted DVD's and knocking my head on the keyboard I finally made it.
thanks anyway
