All cheese and back to the future jokes aside, I saw an auction for one of these babies not far from me. Its a damn classic, It would be an awesome first car to own. However its a bit banged up.. would need a bit of work and restoration probably.

However Im thinking a fanboy is gonna come down and pay a stupid amount for it, what you reckon?

I know its a stretch but is there anyone here who has owned or still owns one of these beasts?

Confused

Why?

Buy it and be happy that the British Govt. paid for it.

Very Happy

In all seriousness, I could not buy that car without the intention of install a flux capacitor!

I mean if you're going to do it, do it right.

Read not to contradict and confute, nor to believe and take for granted, but to weigh and consider.

To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world.

In all your remembering, remember that you have choices

First things first, I have never and will never own a delorean.

That said, unless you're planning to keep it in your garage as a bragging rights toy or something I would defo not buy that thing..You have to remember, those cars are damn old, maybe even older than yourself.
Don't even think about driving it to work or the grocers because you'll be walking more than often. Wink

Do you know how sick of a car Deloreans are? I know some company still makes them to this day with options that were unavailable from factory. They were always ragged on for not having enough power given the weight of the car, that company gives you a inline 6 turbo option I think.

Overall the cars looked at as a failure, but from a collectors point of view it's gold.

What's wrong with old vehicles? My truck is going to 30 next year and it still outdoes anything new.

Call me old school or call me crazy but when I drive I prefer to actually drive not have the vehicle do it for me.

I don't see how either of those driving aids propel the car for you? If you would like to drive the car yourself while your front wheels lock up and you are fishtailing then alright.

For the average driver ABS and any sort of stability control are a +. If you have track time or do any AutoX events then that's another story. Most accidents involving a shift in weight when avoiding an obstacle are lift induced oversteer, staying on the throttle in a RWD car would prevent that.

Sorry for the rant! Laughing

best way to determine your car choice: imagine what reaction your perfect girl would say when it comes up at a party. in fact, that works for a lot of things.

not that i follow my own advice Razz
