Since my mother moved out we have had this damn annoying fish tank full of tropical fish in the living room. The tank is noisy and an extra chore to keep running which no one in the house really has time for. We want to get rid of them and the tank. But one of the fish is a Pleco fish. Im not sure but I could have sworn someone mentionned them being worth quite a bit of money. Here is a picutre, reminds me of the face huggers from Alien Its pretty fucking big, Id say a good 7-8 inches long and 2-3 inhes thick. It goes around the tank sucking the glass every few hours. It looks near enough like the picture above. Anyone know if it is worth something? I remember a guy who was talking about buying these big ass fish for £400-500 a pop (not plecos at least, but this kinda drew my attention). troll detected by SiN

The perfect solution: Fresh, tasty and nutritious. Albeit a tad expensive at £400 a go. Then turn your tank into a giant antfarm. See I'm full of bright ideas.

plecs are pretty common fish so i doubt you would get that much for a fully grown one, unless it is one of the more rarer versions. Speak to your local tropical fish store about taking them off your hands.. most will even give you store credit for them or home them and sell them for you (taking a cut of course)

The internet provides as usual, tho ants are boring... Get a spider, most species live a very long time (well females anyway) when properly taken care of plus they're way more interesting. Twisted Evil

Depends on the Pleco.

If its a common one. Looks all back, this its worth what someones willing to pay, probably only 20 bucks, i gave mine away when i went salt water, and he was a foot long.

If its a spotted pleco, it could be more rare, and worth a bit more, but it depends on what it is (Cant see your picture) . A gold spotted one fetch high dollars if im not mistaken.

Regardless, a pet store will probably give you about 20% of its value. I would just give all the fish away with the tank when you get rid of it.
