How? That's exactly what it is, two 3870 cores on one PCB. I am taking that link as bullshit. Also it's going to be priced pretty competitively, I'm guessing $499.

How is that not cheap? $430 CAD for 2 Radeon 3870s.
That price is 595.485 CAD... That's how.
I'm saying the link that's posted is not cheap.

read today new updated drivers will be out very soon , maybe along with the release of cards next week , since for example in crysis the driver seemed to lack while beating the ultra in everything else.

if they can increase the crysis performance then I might actually buy one, considering the 9800GX2 is still at least a month away and is probably gonna cost quite a bit more...
and then there's also the availability. 8800 GT cards are still hard to come by so chances are the 9800gx2 will be just as rare and prices will suck until the availabilty goes up. |
yup its nice to see an ATI card in the top 10 selling lists of Etailers again and having the card still in stock at the same time .
also glad how competetive the card is priced , its double the price of a single 3870 ,not a euro/dollar more , beating out the fasted card on the market for 7 months the 8800 ultra which i read today is discontinued as of now.
no doubt the 9800 will be faster , but like you said the 3870x2 will be available in masses cause they only had to wait for the driver which already seems to perform really good with more comming.
In the end this card is only for the ones who want a benchmark Epeen or play on 1950* resolutions on max settings , i personally play at 1280*960 with my games on max settings and 4AA/4AF including crysis on the very high settings in XP , not bad for a 200 euro card , so an X2 would be overkill but of course nice to have.

still having stock problem in EU? they are all over the place here...] |
yeah.. they are available, you can get one if you need to, but wherever they are available they're at 260€ or more, which is ~50€ more than they should cost.
All the shops that have em listed around 210-230€ which would be an acceptable price still don't have em in stock.
the situation is a lot better than last year, but still far from acceptable.

hmm they are starting to show up on german etailers now.
Prices as low as 379€
That's pretty damn good! And to think... I was pretty close to buying an 8800 GTX for 360€ just 1-2 months ago.
I think I'll really get one of these. I was originally gonna get some 9800 card, but who knows when they come out.

huh? ati cards are good for the money. nvidia cards are faster, but they also cost more.
a radeon 3870 may be 20% slower than an 8800 gt, but also costs at least 20% less than an 8800 gt, so that's perfectly fine.

3870 X2 seems like a bigger bang of buck then any existing nVidia product... Seeing a increase in almost everything compared to the leading GFXs such as Ultra & GTX.

On top of that, the 9800GX2 is gonna be delayed to march. So another good reason to go with ATI.
When the 8800 GT came out, getting an ATI card was absolutely crazy, but now ATI has some very competitive products out there.
You must really be an Nvidia fanboi to say "You must really be an ATi fanboi to buy an ATi card these days..." because they both have good cards on the market now.
