Is there any way to open .doc files or .pdf files through a webscript or tech, without the need for the viewing client to install anything extra?

Prefer to avoid flash-based (if this even exists), but it's better than nothing.

Anything like that out there?

I saw PHP could handle some COM objects but it didn't seem like it preserved anything in the document for viewing really, and was only to get into the document for searching purposes.

You can always use Google docs to view the files.

Yah, true, any of the online file viewers would be nice, but ideally I want the site visitors to be limited to just clicking a link and having the doc/pdf open on the spot in a new window.

I'd like to keep all the links in-house on our servers if possible, but yah google docs I guess would be my fallback.

Well I'm completely in charge of it in every way, so I can employ really whatever I want.

Currently it does use PHP, however. Wink
