In two minds now.

Cars... bunch of faulty machines...
On the 3rd of Jan, at rush hour, in the middle of downtown, the clutch of my girlfriend's car broke while i was driving, how's that for starting the new year? ---btw, it's a Critroen---
And all that stuff about VW being great? bullshit, my golf had had a ton of troubles, some of them really big ones

Forget the RS4 get a R8. LED Headlights FTW.
But seriously what Year/Model Audi are we talking about here? Most people who have mechanical issues with used cars talk out of their ass. If the necessary preventive maintainence wasn't done on any pre-owned car of course the next owners gonna have issues with it.
Take care of any Euro car and it will take care of you. Japanese cars have their fairshare of lemons you just never hear about them. People blow the reputation of certain car manufactureres out of proportion. (Audi, VW, BMW, Merc) Although Mercedes build quality and quality control in general is no where near where it was in the 90's.
I had a Audi A4 and my bro drives a TT. We've had no issues with either car but then again we are more responsible then the average person who expects to fill it up with fuel and do oil changes. Sorta car freaks, 2 hours clay baring/waxing, taking the wheels off to wax the springs so we can just spray all the grime off when it collects later, etc.

I agree with the OP get a new one, no point in anything else.
Read not to contradict and confute, nor to believe and take for granted, but to weigh and consider.
To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world.
In all your remembering, remember that you have choices

So buy a new french car, have it for 5 years or whatever. Personally I would (and have) go for a German or Japanese car.

1998 audi A8 4.2V8
anyway i decided to leave the big issues be and only fix stuff that could potentially be dangerous, such as the wheel bearing, control arms and rear left coil... should cost a grand or two to fix at a local shop..
also bought a 2004 altima just incase... cant hurt to have 2 cars... also buying a M3 in 3 months so i can get rid of one of the cars then.

I like toyota. Not like ford. Ford (and the rest of the unbrella) was bought out by some company in India and they are now making cars that sell for $2,500 or something like that in India.
(I am basically home bound. I need a new battery. )

They don't care that much about safety in India, so I kinda doubt it :\
