i liked the movie, but the script reeks awfully of scientology propaganda. They even named one of the "incarnations" Gabriel, which looks like a nod to the other scientology movie Michael with John Travolta (also starring in other scientology movies...). 7 coincidently is the highest level a scientologist can achieve before becoming an operating thetan. Which is most likely the state of being that was illustrated here, perhaps as advertisement for a new level 9 you can achieve if you pay the heirs of hubbard some even more insane amount of money you have to pay for level 8. Which strangely can only be achieved at sea on a scientology-driven boat...
well, i still liked the movie as it has a challenging way of story-telling and has an interesting concept as well, apart from the great performances. I just dont like to be force-fed religious idiocy through good movies, especially if its scientology we are talking about.
Does anybody know if Ryan Reynolds and the others have a connection with the church? Google didnt help me with Ryan Reynolds at least...

if you look at how many actors are now scientologists, is it so wrong to ask about the background, when a movie comes along that so heavily "borrows" from their cult? Especially in a country where half of the citizens believe in creationism?

i have not ANYWHERE on the ENTIRE intarrrweb, found a summary of this film that even vaguely explains what the film is about, and makes it sound interesting enough to be worth watching...
anyone here want to take up the challenge?

Summary by Bluez :
One God (Ryan Reynolds) created a world that he loved so much that one day he became one of its inhabitants , and every time he got bored/was in trouble he changed to the other himself in that world to live a human level 7 life in a new scenario. But he did it so many times that he forgot who he was .
This movie represents his three last changes when the other divine level 9 beings (Hope Davis) found him and return him to his unexplainable in human words world , but first they must use the laws that he crated to wake him up and return his memory .

its one of those movies that cannot be summarized without taking away some of the greatness of the story. It s a bit like jacobs ladder in that regard or donnie darko or similar. Just watch it, if you like to see Ryan Reynolds showing great performances as at least three different characters. |

There are actually character levels in the movie? Hell, imagine Snails from the Dungeons and Dragons movie leaping up in the middle of a fight yelling "LEVEL UP!" in that annoying voice of his.

fantastic movie, i love films that make you think and this certainly fits those bounds. added to the Man From Earth and the fact both writers/directors publicly condoned piracy, i am glad to see fresh film talent that is willing to embrace the digital age.
i am going to buy this film when it hits europe.

didn't like this movie. Why? A movie that doesn't make any sense to me. Although in the end a lot is explained and you don't have to search for more answers. But still the storylines didn't tie up.

I got the idea that this game was about 3 people playing something like The Sims online with different characters, and G was one of the creators of the game.
When reading some plot summary's on IMDB, these guys must have smoked some seriously good dope.
