K guys I dont know if this is a good score for 3dmark06
3DMark Score 8783 3DMarks
SM 2.0 Score 3678 Marks
SM 3.0 Score 5201 Marks
CPU Score 1610 Marks
My system specs are as follows and I am running to BFG 8800 GTS OC 512mb in SLI but my mobo supports only 8x split in 2 for SLI as oppose to 16x/16x can this be a factore of why my score seems so low. It just doesn't feel right. Also if not just my mobo I have a 600W seasonic and I have 4 internal hard drives and my audigy 2 zs...Im also running vista 64bit. If anyone is running a SLI setup can you post me your 3dmark scores so I can compare.

The score is low because of your cpu, 3dMark score rely too much on it, rather try some game time demo. Yet with two GTS 512 in SLI your cpu may actually hold things back.

Yup, CPU limited. Don't worry though, a synthetic benchmarks performance is irrelevent. Your CPU is perfectly fine for REAL games.

I have read that sli gains are not worth the cost but that looks very much like a single card score.

Try running the benchmark with one card and repeat with both cards. I suspect sli is not working in your case. Latest drivers I presume?

X2 4400 <3
I've had the same one for over a year now (939 socket) and I've yet to be held back by it.
Besides, games are more reliant on video card. My GF played fear on a single core AMD 64 2.0ghz just fine, it was her video card that was sucking the shit.

SLI eats donkey dick
I break at least 14k with my 3870s, can't quite remember if i got up over 16k.. but I have a Q6600.. but 6k isn't just CPU.

yeah I know my cpu score is low but for SLI I figured my score would at least be alot hire for the gpu scores. I guess my limitations would be cause of the 8x sli...gonna swap out my mobo this weekend for one that supports SLI 16x and hopefully the extra bandwidth will help out. See what's weird though is when I tried Crysis with AFR 1 with everything on Very High it was a slide show. I put it on AFR 2 and bang it is playable with the odd stutter so im assuming my SLI is working just not to it's full potential. Even though 3dmark says my duel link isn't enabled does it test with both or just stricly with one card. Also could Vista 64bit version be borked and that's why im experiencing this inconsistancy. OH yeah and I did the test with SLI on and OFF and my gain was only about 300 points.

No because there is no card on the market that can fill agp 8 bandwith.

So AwE you saying by default 3dmark will not recognize sli ? or is that a hint that my sli is bunk and that's why it's only running on one card. That's my confusion right now is if 3dmark06 just doesnt recognize SLI. I know my cpu is a bottle neck so that score im not worried about its the SM 2.0 and SM 3.0 scores that just seem low for this card.

Nakitu I dont know why you keep bringing up AGP 8x as I know that's the limit of AGP but im talking about PCI-E 8x SLI as opposed to 16x SLI both ways. So not sure how AGP plays into this. And rereading what you wrote AwE sounds like my 8x sli is what's holding back some of my 3dmark score.

Ace, Socket 939 also means DDR1, which also slow things somewhat.
But like people said earlier, don't pay much attention to 3DMark06 or whatever benchmarking software. You should just play games and see if the current system satisfies you. I don't really see a reason why it shouldn't.

Yeah thanks for the pointers i'm just stressing cause I'm having difficulties determining if my SLI is working or not.

Quote: | AGP 8x
A 32-bit channel operating at 66 MHz, strobing eight times per clock, delivering an effective 533 MHz resulting in a maximum data rate of 2133 MB/s (2 GB/s); 0.8 V signaling. |
And PCI-X 8 has same bandwith as agp 8. Do you understand now?

Taking out one card would be possible of course... but its not needed to say that it doesn`t work. the score is a single card score.
And if you read through your first post you will notice this:
Quote: | Display Device 1/1
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 512 Driver 7.15.11.6928 |
but despite the fact its not working, i can`t tell you what`s wrong. I don`t have a sli setup running.
good luck finding the mistake.
P.S, if I remember right, only the output on 1! card works, if sli is enabled. check this maybe...
Isn`t there any info in the driver menu about sli?
and nakitu,
maybe you should consider, that 2 cards in sli mode have to comunicate somehow, besides the "normal" traffic that is going through the bus...

So I switched out my mobo out of a system a build a while back it's basicaly the same mobo but a little newer so it's still only doing 8x,8x sli did 3dmark again and I actualy got about an extra 100 points after a fresh format. Not that a 100 points would make a difference. But yeah I think with these newer cards if you dont have them running at 16x either way they just get guttered. I tried for the fun of it and overclocked my processor to 2.5 instead of 2.2 and got about an extra 3 to 4 fps in Crysis. So im sure if my processor could handle up to 3.0 ghz I would get about an extra 10 fps. In average right now with everything cranked on very high I get about 15 FPS.
