|
 |
What burner do you have / use for backups? I realize there are a handful of ones that are optimal but i am more interested in what burners you guys have that work and which ones didn't.
I have 2 Lite-On DL Burners and a HP DL Burner
I am hoping out of those one is good enough. Anybody else use liteon's for burning backups? I never had a problem with the original xbox.

I think it's the nec71xx something..... had no problems what so ever for my DL 360 dvd's.
Before this one I had a sony, also with no issues... Burners that did gave me coasters were from Lite-on and HP, I'd never buy one of them again

I use my lappy's built-in burner, a third-party brand offspring of one of the NEC's out there.
Surprisingly, I've had quite a few great burns with it, after an initial problem where I couldn't get a Halo 3 image to burn properly.
Speaking of burners, I've noticed that some of my backups freeze during gameplay. COD4, for instance, freezes after the first (boat) mission. Assassin's creed used to freeze at startup sometimes. Mass effect freezes, random points. The error is always "this disc is dirty and might be unreadable" and restarting usually works, but I'm curious if this is a burner problem or if I should re-flash with the slower of the Rev C's.
Edit: I've been using Verbs exclusively as the media and burning in imgburn at 2.4x

Well the crappy HP drive worked although i am noticing some stuttering during MX Vs ATV seems like the burn could be better. However, so far Halo 3 works perfect and the disc being read isn't super loud.

I had a LITE-ON DL burner as well. But it was dead it just wouldn't burn anything. Now I use Pioneer 112D. Burns very nicely.
Lol Mortibus I thought my 112D was being wack but it was actually my xbox drive that wasnt flashed with the proper fw. But yea now its all good

How unusual is it for a burner to wear out? I´ve come to the conclusion that my 111D is in pretty bad shape, and i bought it in October 2006. Have no idea how many DVD-Rs ive burnt, but it isnt a huge ammount. Burnt about 50-60 360 games though, all on Verbs.
about half of the games i burn nowadays work - even games that i burn and work, and then burn again (tried to burn another copy of Mx vs Atv Untamed for a friend) and it didnt work the second time. And the games that recently didnt boot on my 360, didnt boot on his either. Games that have worked in the past has never failed to boot, so thats why i dont think its my 360 thats having problems.
So i just ordered a 212D (basically a 112D, but with SATA). So lets see how it goes.
