Check your services and see if anything is there that shouldn't be and of course the processes list.

Hmmm, I had this happen when I modified the hard coded connections number in XP... Have you done anything of that sort? Have you installed some security suite (aka bloatware) that comes with an integrated firewall?

Cheers guys.
Checked the Services and all seems to be ok. Except that FW has "STOPPED"
I don't have any other FW or Suites installed except AVAST virus scanner. I also never tampered with any hard coded stuff etc
@drugshound
Tried those links but I can't seem to find
Quote: | HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy
Full Control;Read
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SharedAccess\Defaults\FirewallPolicy
Full Control;Read
| in reg
Also restarting the service with "NETSH FIREWALL RESET" from prompt only gives me a "Service has not been started"
Contemplating to do a new install of VISTA at the mo . I think my backup image might also be fuked as I did it only some days ago, and this prob might be included in that image.
Will check some more, but as a last resort I probably will do a new install...PAIN!
EDIT: Its done, reinstalled
Did not have any patience today, oh well...back to installing apps and tweaking settings here.
Anyho, cheers guys...I know you did your best.
