|

Hello!
Now this is a strange one. I've dealt with computers for quite some time, but this is by far the itchiest head scratcher i¨'ve come across to date.
A 4 day old HP Laptop running Windows Vista (showing absolutly NO sign of failure or fault in the 4 days it operated) suddenly refuses to do anything!. When I boot the computer I was first greeted with Exx2Exx3 (...and nothing more). I tried to Recover through HP's internal Recovery Manager (running of a HD) it crashed and now it said " SMART, possible hard drive failure detected..bla bla bla" the standard error message from SMART drives.
I then proceeded to create an UBUNTO Live CD to check the HD for failures. According to UBUNTO the drive is detected, I can format it, change the file system and so on. I did all that, even reverted back to FAT32 (which strangely removed the "SMART, possible hard drive failure" message.
If I try to run the Recovery Manager it freezes after a few minutes and displayes:
0x400100130000 1002 (google it, I didnt get any smarter)....
Does anyone have ANY idea that can help me?
Should I try to create an additional partition and install windows onto that?
Is it a problem with the recovery manager?
Yours, ReWOLF

if those pre configured computers are still how they were years ago theres a hidden partion on the hardrive that has some security crap on it so your recovery cd will only work on your computer.
maybe the hdd got corrupted somehow and thats why your getting the wierd messages
