Used to make Hacks for BF/BFV/BF2 like 2 years back. Took to much time and stuff so I stopped. Now days I wont even bother going online as there are always ppl using hacks and stuff. Just ain't no fun now is it, at least if you don't have your own wall hack or aim bot

I voted for option two. I think it has destroyed the experience for some players in a few games, yeah, but if the developer has brains enough to put in a good anti-cheating system (like Valve, Epic, and some others), then it won't ruin the game.
I try to avoid most of the games that are running with Punkbuster, as that is easily the worst system I have experienced, ever since Rainbow Six 3.
But I think mostly I play very few games online nowadays is because there are few really fun ones, plus I don't have much time anymore.
My current favourite is TF2.

I voted for option 2 as well. I normally only play at LANS now, seems the best way to assure yourself there is no cheating. Not that people can't cheat at a lan but often times you have spectators over your shoulder.

I've never really been bothered by cheaters, I mostly consider them as a "challenge". What really puts me off online playing are whiners, arrogant people and the like, those who really destroy the fun.
Players often tend to think that cheaters are a whole bunch of assholes, and indeed some of them are, but I've came to know quite a few and most of them really aren't that bad.
Sure it would be much better if everyone would play fair, but we'll probably never get rid of cheating as there will always be workarounds, so we might as well get used to it (i know i'm gonna be frowned upon for having said that).
Well I respect those who've decided to fight against it, yet I bet you'd be having much more fun if you didn't care.
Now you may not believe me, but I've never ever cheated online. Instead I've been kicked/banned from countless mohaa servers because I was suspected of cheating, while real cheaters were considered as fair players at the same time. I don't really know how to explain it, but this kinda led me into this "I don't care" mood. And I don't think that's making me feel worse than before.

I hate people claiming camping is cheating. If you watch professional CS players, the freaking game is camping......
Getting kicked for that is irritating.

When I was hacking BF I was like kicked 1 or 2 times, never banned...well we where once, when PB switched tactics and started to scan the whole .exe. I was lucky cause I had a separate nic card and a RAID controller card (could not be logged for HW banning). So after a week or so we where back in business thanks to a guy called Sparten (one of the gdam best hackers for BF back then!) . And PB was not the sharpest knife in the drawer, at least not back then.

At least with consoles this isn't an issue.

I'd say its less of a problem in pro gaming. Atleast in the CS scene people don't care what people do on pub servers.

There's cheaters even in Medal of Honor Heroes 1&2 on PSP. Speedhacks mostly.

I rarely see cheaters in the online games I play (unless it's free games like America's Army, or worthless games for 12 year olds like the BF games). Usually the people who accuse others of cheating just plain suck themselves.

Voted for 2 although I rarely see anymore. At least not in TF 2 and hopefully this continues because it's a game I have so much fun with.

Na, don't do any of that stuff anymore...REALLY! I even called in sick at work when doing this crap some years ago, that's how obsessive it got  . Gave it all up as the coding was way to complex anyway (was getting that way as PB stepped things up a notch) And I don't play SH anymore...but I might when they release the add on  (same thing there, the modding was just getting a life of its own)

I only play UT2004 online, and almost never found cheaters (or at least I didn't notice 'em). Found some on demo servers, but demo servers suck anyway....

when i played css: no it didnt bother me because vac did such a great job.
then i played crysis and yes. every server had 2 or more cheaters that thoroughly ruined it...

As an ex top-level counterstrike player, I can tell you hacking totally ruined a brilliant game. The only place worthwhile playing it is on LAN but since all the big events/comps went away or moved to source (godawfulshit game) it's pretty much in its grave.

I have played many FPS online, some just for fun some more seriously.
Cant ever say that i feel that any game have been totaly destroyed by cheaters( im sure there are some, just not any i have played). In most games there are programs (like PB) or Admins who will solve the problem.
Atm im mostly playing TF2 and i havent seen one cheater in that game yet.

If anything spoils my gaming experience it's those fucktards who populate the Counter-Strike servers. They seriously make me want to shoot up schools. I could care less about the cheaters, but there's just something about the electronic equivalent of anti-social chav's that drains the soul.
