Wow, 450w is cutting it close. You have got to remember even with a good brand like Corsair, the efficiency is about 80-85%, so yer psu will still be losing wattage and you won't be feeding your components the full rated 450, more like 380 watts. On top of that, some of the power is diverted from your main components for things like power and hdd light on lesser used rails, so that cuts down yer available wattage even more. So when all is said and done, your left with less than 300 for the critical parts of your system.

While I am a big proponent of not going overboard with 1000WATTS and wasting a TON of power, you still want some to spare. If your psu is constantly strained to provide enough power(especially running a quad-core and powerful gfx card), you might just be running into probs down the line.

Besides, finding a psu at around 600 watts shouldn't cost you much more with prices the way they are.

Try the 7.1+2 Channel High Definition Audio Codec of that mobo before buying another sound card, it may be well enough. Smile Also like upstart_69 have said i would at least go for a PSU over 500W.

Bah.. get this for the ULTIMATE WiN!

o INTEL BOX CORE 2 QUAD Q9450 2.66G 12M 1333 I64 S775 (BX80569Q9450)
o Thermaltake Big Typhoon 6 Heatpipes High density aluminum Copper base w/ 12 cm silent (CLP-0114)
o Asus Mobo C2D P5K DELUXE LGA775 INTEL P35 ICH9 DDR2 1066 2XPCI-EX16 WiFi-AP Edition
o Corsair XMS2 Dominator TWIN2X2048-8500C5D 2GB 2X1GB PC8500 DD2-1066 CL 5-5-5-15-2T 240PIN Dual Channel Memory
o Seagate ST3320620NS Barracuda ES - Hard drive - 320 GB - internal - 3.5" - SATA-300 - 7200 rpm - buffer: 16 MB (ST3320620NS)
o EVGA 512-P3-N841-AR GEFORCE 8800GTS 512M DDR3 PCI-E2.0 D+D+HD HDTV-7 ROHS RETAIL (512-P3-N841-AR)
o Pioneer DVR 212D SATA Black OEM (Pioneer 212D)
o Antec Sonata III FRONT MOUNTED USB ESATA 500W 9 DRIVE BAYS STANDARD ATX (Sonata III)

Cost: $1670 including 13% CDN taxes so most other places it should be cheaper. You can mix/match to drop price a little like substituting the Q9450 for the E8500. Still.. the Q9300 and Q9450 are the latest 45nm QuadCores and thus rock for being the latest tech AND cost great + overclock like a champ!

If your going AMD I would wait a lil longer for the phenom series to mature a bit or just get the X2 6000+ (or higher)

Lots of people feel endeared towards AMD for providing excellent power at a low cost for such a long time. However if you can afford to go Intel in the current climate you'd be slightly crazy not to unless you're on a real shoestring budget.
