  • Publisher: Akella
  • Developer: Burut / Akella
  • Genre: RPG
  • Release date: US: Q1 2007
    Europe: December 31, 2007
  • Story/Description:
    Quote:

Based on the novel of the same name by Strugatsky brothers, this non-linear 3D RPG features a branching story with four endings in this tale of the Kingdom of Arkanar. One of the gameplay features is the interference of two epochs in the game universe – the medieval and the alternative future. This provides the peculiar variety of different weapons and armors - from swords and bows to miniguns, from full plates to force fields - and equipment like binoculars and night vision goggles at characters’ disposal. The active combat system also includes a party system and damage modeling on the hero where the character can be wounded badly which will diminish his attributes and require long recover, and even lose a limb or be decapitated by a strong attack of the opponent. The whole world from the book is being carefully created anew under the supervision of one of its demiurges, Boris Natanovich Strugatsky.

The book is an awesome classic, although it's not blasters&starfighters hardcore sci-fi. Let's hope they don't fuck it up.

The translation of texts into english will be finished in a month. Add a few months for voiceover recordings, corrections by native speakers, testing and QA and there you'll have your 'soon'.

blee this game is really crapy , runs fine and smooth but the graphic are so washed up that it hurts , played the first 3 missions and found this game too crapy to continue
So here it goes :
You control the main hero with WASD + mouse (it controls the camera rotation) , the camera is fixated on the main character that you control , you can see the ye big map when you press M .
The BAD - your puppet is magically covered with glue and when you jump on a horse and ride with it to a wall or tree and you guess it you GET STUCK - can escape only by reload your SAVE IF YOU HAVE ONE

Missions are well the normal mainstream RPG type - kill those spy's , find cows , kill bandits , find something and so on , the quests you picked are represented on the main map as a dot (red, blue, green - colors of importance) and on the mini-map as a arrow with the same color as the dot to show you the way . The Bad its more like we show you what should you do to not get lost because we know players are stupid this kinda mini-map help , The Good is you can't get lost with those .

Graphics well like i said before textures are washed up so much it looks like 32x32 size pics are stretched on a 700x700 surface - this hurts , and guess what they know about it so what they do THEY COVER IT WITH BLOOM Ouch my eyes . It looks more like a budget title released for low-end PC with some story based on a book .

Story - don't care because of the bloom , but mainly its talk talk talk with multi question and answer system , the usual RPG stuff .

Fighting System - its ok , well its quite good , its similar to a Hack and Slash game - WASD (move your hero) TAB - pick your weapon , LMB and RMB to attack with combos But watch out for your Strength - if it goes to Zero you are suddenly turned into a rock , paralyzed and Die in a battle with 4-8 baddies - hate this is RPG games . O yeah forgot to write about the camera that is SO CRAP , in the most important moments it zooms out automatically or gets stuck in a tree - you hear me right the camera can get stuck in a tree and it just locks then your control puppet escapes from our view and dies .

So to SUM it up = THIS GAME IS CRAP , more like a low-end RPG for the low-end class PCs with HELL lot of Bugs

The book is russian, main market is ex-USSR = low-end PCs, so they intentionally make it for low-end PCs. That's the trouble with russian games (unless its something intentionally made for EU/US market).

Only a couple hours late there Razz
Anyway will be interesting to see if anything has changed since the horrible demo, like for instance can you change the camera angle now or does it still have that magically induced nausea effect.

Fuck the difference. Just download the clone to be on the safe side. That way you can use all the latest patches too without having to wait for new cracks.

I'm assuming it has something to do with the protection
