|
 |
Ive had this system for well over a year now. Ive thought about modding it before but didnt wanna take a chance with a 400$ machine. I understand that you cant play on Xbox Live with a modded 360 but thats OK because I NEVER play on Xbox Live because I dont even have a gold account.
Now I know theres a lot of steps to this process but has anybody here had a hard time modding it? mean how much time, effort, and money does it really take?
I was just curious because Im running out of money really quick for every game I buy. I just bought BioShock today for $66 and I dont think I can afford any other games that are coming out this year. my life is falling apart financially due to these game prices. and i have no money for beer either!

That should answer your questions.
The only money it really takes is you really should be a new dvd burner which should be mentioned in the above link as well as the need to buy the DVD-DL media. other than that it should be simple.

lol jesus thats too many steps I can never pull that off. Do they have places or people I can goto in new york where they can mod it for me for a fee?
I mean Im not a complete idiot when it comes to hardware. I do play around with PC hardware alot but I just never thought of doing with a x360 part. The only thing I have flashed before is a motherboard...
Also, can I play my original 360 games on a modded 360 or would I have to reburn em?

Yes, you can play both original and burned games.

Read this guide about opening your 360 (that tool is not required):
http://www.team-xecuter.com/blaster360/360unlock.htm
It's very easy once you get a hang of it.

No. definitively not. It is much better and cheaper to just buy a s-ata extension and cut a whole in the grating yourself.

Alright Ive read that I need a SATA port ON my motherboard. Would flashing work if I use a SATA PCI card?
This is the drive version I have:

Iextreme allows you to play online if i am not mistaking.
At least if it ain't banned yet, games just need to be stealth patched.

Yeah IXtreme is safe online....for now. As for you flashing. Yeah MS25 is the easiest so you got a good chance there. as for a PCI SATA card your into compatibility territory. You want to get a VIA chipset SATA card. I bought one just this week works like a dream. Make sure you do ALOT of reading before connecting anything to anything though.
Good luck mate.

The main thing is that you have connection between the X360 case and the PC case.
However I got myself an Xecuter connectivity kit a long time ago, the power thingie included there is wonderful IMO.

anything metal between the two. croc clips or jumper cables should be fine.

Just place the two cases next to each other so that they touch each other.
When I flashed mine, I didn't though. And there were no problems at all.

Alright cool but Il just get the cable today just incase. I already sold my copy of bioshock on ebay this morning since hopefully I wont be needing it anymore after flashing. Has anybody flashed it with a USB Flash Drive? Ive read that floppies are unreliable during this process but the flashing guide here on nforce tells to do it with a floppy.

do as much research as you can, there's a lot of different drives, solutions and methods depending on your box, what sort of mod you want and so on, oh and you'll need DVD+R DL and not DVD-R DL as qouted elsewhere. Always go with Verbatim media if possible... i I stealthed my Hitachi drive, nearly bricking it once, and thankfully salvage it and struck lucky second time.

I agree that the Textbook tutorial really is one of the best.
As for Floppy's or USB I've heard that it is the USB flashing that is a little unreliable. However I have flashed 6 Samsungs through Floppy without any problem.

just makes reflashing a lot easier, has ODD, debug mode, free SATA Cable, so saves having to hook it uo to your PC... for keeping up with firmare updates and stealth, it just makes life a lot simpler, and for $25.00 odd bugs is a sweet piece of kit.
Agreed the Textbook tutorial wraps things up pretty well. I'm impressed!
