Ok so ive got an assignment i cant figure out. It's about religion and the question is as follows: 4 of these people are female, 3 are male. Whom is what.
A catholic priest
A Brahmin (not the god Brahman)
A Theravadabuddhistmonk
A sunnimuslim
An ortodox jew
A marxist
An ecosophist
Ok so the two definite males are the catholic priest (they dont allow female priests) and the Theravadamonk (well cause he's a monk, monks are dudes). So im looking for that last male in the pack.
My bet is that its the Brahmin but im not certain. Anyone here got a good definite answer for me?

Well its just a part of a bigger religion assignment 
Don't know but i doubt it's the ortodox jew, they can be both male and female, the "only" differences compared to a reform or conservative jew is that they dont believe in the modern western society. There are still just as many female as male ortodox jews.

What is an Ecosophist? is that Swedish spelling or?. Get very strange hits when searching for that.

perhaps look at what different faiths allow those jobs which have neutral sex roles?
For example, perhaps Muslim women cannot do certain jobs, whilst others can, etc.

Yeah i know it's a weird question that's why i had to sort of ask it to more people
And yeah as you say Cox i've just done a somewhat crappy translation of Ekosofi which to my understanding is a sort of ultra-vegan humanistic lifestyle where humans are "worth" as much as the birds and bees.
I'll try and clarify the question, the setting is that the people described are having dinner and the first question is the one with men/women then it goes on to what trouble the different preferences when it comes to meat, drinking etc and so on will be.
Here is the question again but in exact swedish:
Det är 4 kvinnor och 3 män kring bordet, förutom dig själv. Redogör för vilka som är män, och vilka som är kvinnor.
Roughly translated this reads:
There are 4 women and 3 men around the table, except for yourself. Clarify whom of these are men, and whom are women.
So in a way i suppose they dont HAVE to be perfectly right or wrong, but still it feels like there should be a sort of definite answer seeing as how two of them are clearly men.

But...ok if its all in Swedish could it not be (Swedish here) "Judinna" (female) of "Jude" (male). Maybe that's the trick question. "En Ortodox Jude" (Swedish) means in this case male, as otherwise it would be " En Ortodox Judinna". Only thinking loud here.

Women can become Catholic Priests, and Marxism is unrelated to religion.
My answer would be, "Gender is irrelevant when you're talking about beliefs. Therefore, it doesn't matter who is male or female. Don't look for issues that don't exist."

sounds like you should be explaining the reasons why you are saying which are women and which are men so that you understand the requirements/restirctions of each religion. sounds like an open question like that.

If they are referring to a brahmin (as a priest) then that can only be a man but brahmin can refer to the cast as well in which case it's just a case of being born into it.

I thought of that for a while as well (it's "jude" btw) but it doesnt fit in with the rest of the class, a trick question like that seems more grammarschool than university

Yeah im considering if it this is the case as well. Fuck if i had done this last week i could have asked my professor during the week but since it's due tomorrow i cant really do that lol.

Ah sweet that is probably it to be honest. Seeing as how there are monks and priests present already it's likely that Brahmin refers to the scholar/priest-type rather than the cast.
I'll go with that for now, i do have until tomorrow to finish it so if someone else comes up with some brilliant idea, feel free to add

im gonna go with 1, 2 and 3 being dudes.
lets face it, only the weird kiddie fiddling guys become priests so thats a no brainer. as for the monk, ive never heard of a chick monk, a chipmonk (ha ha) yes, but never a wench. as for number 2 i have no idea what it is, so ill just go with that one... brah is how black people say bro, so it must be for dudes
