shit Confused that is harsh. Be very careful not to rub it.. the last thing you want is more pain and to push it deeper mate. Other than that dont worry, the eye is surprisingly one of the most resilient parts of the body Wink people I have heard have had much worse, one guy even had lead shavings through his eyes and healed in less than a few weeks with perfect vision Wink

I think its something to do with the eye being like 98% useless flesh/padding, with the business parts only making up 2%

It's like the tongue, designed to withstand constant wear and tear and so it has a rapid cellular generation time. Still, your eyes are so sensitive that even a minor corneal defect can cause extreme discomfort and take weeks for the sore feeling to totally go away.

Can't they give you a local anaethestic like novocaine in the meantime?

Failing that, rub some cocaine in your eye.

Because the corneal cells primarily acquire nutrients through diffusion and nerve fibre mediated neurotrophins, most local anaesthetics only have a very short duration. A systemic painkiller is much more effective. Wink

Um, don't you have lives to save or cancers to cure or something?

And the wink was just rubbing it in.

Obviously don't try such things yourself. If the metal is in the eye at an angle you could cause a lot more tearing and damage by using a strong magnet to pull it out.
