The first one was awesome. I am looking forward to this one. but i don't believe the release date. October or November is more likely.

And games games are always released on their official release date. 
Don't get me wrong i want it to be released as soon as possible but i don't believe it. But i do hope i am wrong on this one.

This actually looks pretty awesome. Ive never played the first one, but always wanted to, maybe i should pick it up for xbox 360, i hope it works.
On a side note, anyone has trouble playing GT stuff in firefox? It just says loading, and thats it, nothing happens, i have to either download it or use IE to watch it.
Sig too big. -Nothing is too big for Fedor. Expect a nasty armbar.

Maybe try changing the default player, quicklime should work fine if you download the Firefox addon.
As for playing the first game I would probably not bother, thats if like me you're someone who plays enough of the latest games to have become subconsciously accustomed to 360 level graphics.
I played through the original back when it first came out and it was a great experience. The graphics, particle effects and physics really impressed me at the time. So of course nostalgia took hold and had me thinking that the graphics would still impress me even now. I was seriously disappointed, the graphics don't compete with the worst looking 360 games (e.g. Tenchu Z) the textures are ridiculously blurry and the view distance is atrocious. I couldn't enjoy it anywhere near as much as I had the first time. I'm not a graphics whore by any means, but Mercenaries was one of those games where visual splendor is a big aspect, considering the air strikes need to be fun and spectacular to use.

I must disagree. Mercenaries is a game that SHOULD be experienced. The playability goes beyond it's graphics. It was a splendid adventure with new ideas in the genre.
Krest,
If you are a fan of open world real-time sandbox style games, give it a shot. You won't be disappointed as long as you immerse yourself in the story and experience. Being able to call in Air Strikes and then watching buildings topple as the missles hit is pure joy.
btw, it IS backwards compatible, so you're golden!
I can't wait for this sequel. Looks like August will be a great month with SR 2 and Mercs 2 coming. But, one of these titles will surely get pushed back. My guess will be SR 2. Either way, Mercs 2 is shaping up nicely!

Fair enough, a lot of my disappointment was because my memory of it was so different to the reality.

I liked the dark grittines combined with the awesome music in the first merc.
What will it be here? Hula hula pop?
What I´m trying to say is that alot of the overall feeling of the first game now seems lost. This might of course not be a bad thing. Maybe the new scenery will play out great.
Also ironically (considering AM comments earlier in the thread) I personally feel alot of the screens showed of the game arent much of a higher quality then xbox games. It´s just not very pleasant to look at.

well then lets spread the word hehe... never player mercs 1... replaying just cause these days so i can compare the two. Destructable buildings and environments are fun as hell in the red faction 3 beta.
