Quote: | Red Faction: Guerrilla[1] is a multi-platform video game in development by Volition, Inc. to be published by THQ, and set to be released before Q1 2009.[2]
On February 20, 2008 during Game Developers Conference '08, THQ revealed the game would be an "open world" shooter.[3] THQ has also stated in an interview with Game Informer, that they will take GeoMod to the next level.
In a change from previous versions of the game, Red Faction: Guerrilla will be a third-person shooter. Set 50 years after the events of the first Red Faction, the player makes their way across Mars and fights against the Earth Defense Force. According to Mike Kulas, president of Volition, Inc. "Red Faction: Guerrilla expands the signature destruction elements of the series and pushes the boundaries of next-gen gaming on a massive, terra-formed Mars where gamers can literally tear down the enemy EDF presence brick by brick..."[4] |

Not enough for a template, so in due time I will make it, but not now.

never played the 2nd one but I own the first one. That Geo-Mod shit was great when it was first out. Online was a blast cause of it. Blow a few holes in the walls and hide in them.

And don't play 2nd one too. It's just plain bullshit.
First one is a classic.

Damn wish they would have kept it first person... The first one was a classic!
If memory served me right however weren't the people of Mars the bad ones in the first one? Well not everyone on mars but the dictatorship that forced slavery. Granted this is 50 years in the future but compared to what Mars was like at the time I highly doubt the earth would suddenly get as bad or worse as Mars was...

The people of earth were lied to about mars being a vacation away from earth and that the government of mars would provide a better life. But as soon as they started working in the mines it quickly turned into a slavery compound which the people finally stood their ground and fought back.

I loved the single shot rail cannon you could get. It's the best representation of a magnetic accelerator weapon I've ever seen, considering it was modeled after a real military design that not surprising. Shooting through walls has never been better implemented in a game I think.
It really did innovate on lots of levels, a shame it wasn't well recognised for this.

Did you play it when it first came out?

Wasn't this game using the Saints Row 2 engine (Although not like that, similar to UE3 being used in both Bioshock and Mirrors Edge for example) and PhysX or did I just read something weird when I saw those articles? (I know it's rumored to use PhysX but I can't remember if it was ever confirmed, unsure about the engine as well.)

Man I'm waiting for this! Played the MP beta on the 360 and LOVED it! Loved every second of it! I can't wait until the PC version hits ... and, for the pirates amongst us, it's under the G4WL banner *snickers*

I played the beta on the 360 and personally I think this has loads of potential, the capacity for destruction is unrivalled. They have said that is uses all 3 of the 360's processor cores for the physics, so I expect it will at least require a dual core for satisfactory performance.
An example of emergent game play in the beta was how one player was running around on the roof of building being really annoying; So I decided to smash down half of the supports on a specific side of a tower, causing it to collapse into the building he was running around on and crush him! No other game even approaches this level of demolition fidelity on-line.
