Sad I have Windows Vista Home Premium set up with a wireless connection to my xbox360. I am using WMP11 and I have sharing allowed (my xbox360 is detected and has a green icon identifying it as so) but when I go to the network options in my xbox360 and set up my network it fails at the " PC detected" stage (or something to that effect) I have uninstalled my firewall and am running with practally no security to test what could be wrong. I have a Speedtouch 716 wireless router (with a company called Be in London if that helps) and I have managed to stream videos in the past. I got the RROD so I have just received my new xbox and now it doesnt work... what could it be? I have opened the ports properly i think.
My Live connection is fine, does that mean it is not a port issue??
I have the Microsoft wireless thing on the back of my xbox360 so its the official product.

any help would be great this is driving me crazy.

I have tried Windows Media Centre and that seems to be able to "talk" to my PC but none of my videos will play due to a codec error, whcih was never the case when it worked via WMP11.

tversity is only 13mb
using it all the time, it simple and it works unlike glitchy and uncomfy wmp
never heard about orb tho

Thanks for your help Mortibus - managed to fix it.
Bit of a fudge job really, in the end I ignored the failure at the PC detection stage, simply went to the media blade and selected "Pictures" and hey presto my PC was there. Went back to video (which was what i am interested in) and my PC was detected there too. Random.

No I am not touching tversity, using WMP11. So easy (once i got it working) and i dont have to install another cumbersome app

As for SP3, its an amazing version i got off mininova called Windows XP PRO SP3 (5508) VistaVG Ultimate +SATA-Raid-Reloaded (04-07-2008)

yeah it took me about 5 days of constantly playing around with settings (with firewall/antivir off) and now it works perfectly, but i think it still fails at the "PC detection" phase.

i dont care - i love wireless streaming movies!!
