Ring them up. If you explain what happened, then the bank may strike the charge. I know a few people have done it and it worked.
Especially with such a small amount that led to this.

tried. phonebank asks for a security code which i dont have so i cant get through... I went into the branch and they basically said they were not going to take the charge off.

I went OD by 1£ in similar events last year, they striked it off then but not this time. Sad

Thats pretty ridiculous if you ask me.. Sure, if you went over many times a year, i'd understand them, but if it happens like ONCE a year, and its not even 5 fucking pounds? Kinda silly.

man, that's expensive ... my bank only charges me $5 + interest to use my overdraft (up to $1000).

Aren't there forms for that? I've heard more about British banks charging ridiculous fees, and you could get pretty much everything back + interest if you file a claim.

If you take it that far Rinze they'll cancel your account.
That's the price we pay for free banking.

You got no chance of getting your charge back until the court case is over.

Banks shouldn't be able to charge the fee's that they do.
We are penalized and nickel'd and dime'd to death enough as it is.

Remember banks are there to make money so either close your account or switch to another bank and they wont like it.

That won't do anything about the system. I would then have to go to another bank,
and guess what? they would charge the same shit. what is needed is a true alternative,
sadly I don't know what that would be.

Just to revive this thread with an outcome Laughing..

as I stated before, april the 1st arrived and they took out £55 from my account leaving it in minus figures 'cause id spent up a week earlier. Again I went overdrawn. and hitting the category of another overdraft between 25-100£ meant an addition of 25 £ per day. It hit 5 days, so I recieved a letter today informing me that my balance is currently -55.00 and that I have hit 5 days overdraft meaning £180 charge all together.

Naturally, I wasnt too happy about the idea of paying 180 (almost $400) for a £3 mistake.

I went straight on the phone and said flat out that they could fuck off if they thought I was paying that. Luckily the guy I got through too was a cheerful and friendly chap and even had a laugh at the ridiculous situation.. I then told a white lie and a bit of charm saying that I was out of work ( I dont get payed until late next week ) and that I couldnt afford these charges so they where just going to mount up. He wiped the charges for me.
