|
 |
I have a Samsung SH-S223 22X DVD burner. Whenever I try burning any DVD media @2X speeds, it always burns it @4X. Regardless of what burning software I use, the situation remains unchanged. I didn't have this problem with my earlier Lite-On drive. I can burn DVD-RW media which have max write speed of 2X, but any media which has speeds above 2X won't allow me to burn it @2X. Any solution to this?
I'm asking this specifically since I'll be getting my Xbox 360 modded soon & have heard that 2X burning would have the best compatibility rate.

Well, you could take a small risk and update your firmware, they usually improve the writing strategy and media recognition. Look here :
http://files.rpc1.org/
Or go to Samsung support's download center and find your product there.
Or you could try using ImgBurn 2.5.0.0

Depends on your xbox dvd-rom. Mine reads disks like this: 2x speed - no problems, 4x - no problems, but sometimes slower loading times, 8x and above - every second disc fails
My PC dvd drive reads all discs fine, even those written at 16x, so it's definately not my burner

Try installing your games to hard drive - faster loading times and your console will run quieter and cooler.

I've got this issue as well, the lowest I can burn is 4x but to be honest, I've never had a problem with verbs at this speed.
If anything actually, I've had less problems at 4x than with 2x.
Regarding the installation, it does try to re-read the error. I noticed this as my COD4 retail disk just point blank refuses to install (no real scratches or anything). The drive will just sit rechecking the same areas of the disk and after about 1 minute give up.

well, you are lucky, cause my drive gives away an error instantly as soon as somethings wrong with the disc, so i prefer to just burn at 2,4x while i surf an internet or watch tv to avoid problems
