|
 |
Quote: | New strategy game – The Golden Horde – epic battles with historical background Liezen, Austria, February 15th 2008; The Golden Horde takes you back to a place in time where the heirs of Dschingis Khan were ready to fight for their honor and glory. Choose your battles wisely; you will be up against fast and flexible Mongolians, heavily armed Crusaders and seemingly unconquerable Russians.
About The Golden Horde The Scenario is based on events taking place in Europe, central Asia and Russia at the beginning of the XIII century. The game will offer recreated versions of famous battles and political crisis in an epic campaign where the outcome is yours to determine.
With sophisticated RPG elements, individual Heroes, stunning graphics and easy controls, The Golden Horde offers the perfect exotic setting for a real-time strategy game in the early middle ages of Europe and Asia.
Three different factions Crusaders, Mongolians und Russians: each faction will have unique types of military forces, buildings and combat and heroes with individual abilities.
Takeover of enemy Units / Weapons Take control of neutral horses or their slain riders’ weapon.
Equipment “on the fly” Provide your warriors with new weapons or switch them directly on the battlefield.
Weather is a key element Wind affects the flight qualities of arrows; Rain greatly affects visibility; Snow slows down units, which may cause the units to break through the Ice of frozen lakes.
| YAY a new medieval era strat game
SOURCE
Just some additional info
Quote: | Based on the same engine and gameplay principles as Ancient Wars: Sparta, The Golden Horde will include things as use of ice in battles on rivers and lakes, and use of explosives during sieges. There will be three playable sides in the game - Crusaders, Russians and Mongols. Each of them will have a set of special bonuses. The Golden Horde will also include 3 full-fledged campaigns, as well as a number of scenarios portraying historical battles. Those can be played by LAN or Internet.

what was the last good, not bugged to hell, game from jowood ? I can't remember ...
not to mention the "epic battles" ... first screenshots shows 4 horseriders (archers ?) and 6 footman vs 4 Swordmen and 3 archers/crossbowmen ... yeah indeed epic.
I rather play medieval 2 total war /kingdoms/mods than this joke of a rts.

....This long...
It's the normal strategy of game companies, they see one company make a cool new idea etc then try to design their own just like it but with their own "improvements" (which hardly ever is an improvements) so they can get a dive in some of the cash.

Yea, just a small review on the Sparta game (the engine witch "The Golden Horde" is based on) Its utter crap!...well not 3-4 years ago maybe, but its like a AOE clone, with all the annoying voices when you click units, like "Spartans at the ready" or "Spartans for glory" etc etc. Its basically a RTS with no new or otherwise innovative ideas what so ever. You get these hot spots on the map that you have to reach, basically like any RTS, "Star Wars: Empire at War" springs to mind but with Spartans and what have you. Ok the graphics is not to bad. Anyho, the game is cleaned out from my HD and I am back to MEDIEVAL II! HELL YEA!
