Short and sweet. What do you think LINK CANNOT afford anything that costs more than that. Need something to play my PS3 on.

Sorry about the caps but I know you guys will be posting links to 102'' LCD's and stuff otherwise..

For consoles, it's best to make sure the monitor allows for 1:1 pixel mapping, otherwise the 16:9 signal will be stretched to 16:10 and that sucks. Smile

OK. But wont that be nearly unnoticeable? The start of next year I will be able to spend as much as want on buying entertainment equipment. But at the moment I need every penny on doing this house up for sale. Whats the bad things about using this monitor then, the screen will be stretched slightly?

Just check on the internets. Proper monitors have this option. If not this one, then another at the same price range. Smile

BTW, it is noticeable and is not tolerable (for me at least Sad).

For me (I have T220) the downsize would be no HDMI, but for all else it does the job (and that's comp use...)

But there are DVI-to-HDMI converters that can be used for HDMI-to-DVI, no? They work quite good (the conversion is lossless), so no real problem. Smile

But it is nicer to have a few inputs and selecting from the menu. Smile

Not much difference between the two you linked, although the Viewsonic would be preferrable due to its full 1080p support.

Having bought a monitor myself not too long ago, you really want to look for one with better colour representation than those two though. Neither of them has accurate colours by default, and while you can fix this in Windows by loading a colour profile, you can't do that on your PS3 :E

www.digitalversus.com has a link somewhere to colour profiles for a truckload of monitors. Also a good site to compare monitors on in general. The latency on both of those monitors also jumps a bit.

Got an LG W2253V myself, next to my Samsung 206BW - the latter has always had positive reviews everywhere and I loved it..until I got this LG monitor. You really do notice the colours being WAY off on the Samsung without ICC loaded.

Don't say I didn't warn you

P.S. You can probably find my W2253V at the same price with a little digging, it's slightly cheaper than the W2261V but a lot better because it doesn't suffer from panel juggling.

Oh and while the vertical viewing angle is good, horizontal is catastrophic! If you are offset by ~10° the colours change drastically. I was doodeling sth in photoshop, and suddenly I noticed that the bottom part of my picture was different from my top part, and I thought I put gradient or sth, but when I scrolled (and used colour picker tool) I saw that in fact those were the same :\

And because you can tilt it only upwards, when watching movies on my bed I put cd case under the base to tilt it downwards Very Happy

It is rather cheap Very Happy That's a plus, but it's widescreen, and I have trouble with adjusting to that, my 16:10 ratio is perfect for anything, and I wouldn't change it for anything Very Happy And you can easily adjust colours on samsung...

Nice Smile. The only problem I would have with that would be just the one input.

What resolution do you use on your desktop? 1920*1080 is too small imo. I like to sit back in my chair with my feet up, but I can't read small writing when doing that. Maybe I need some glasses.. Laughing

i use 1920x1080 Smile

I'm fine with just DVI, I don't use anything else, I watch movies and everything on my computer so it's all gravy. I've got above normal eye sight as I found out earlier this year so I haven't the slightest issues reading small text from a far distance.

then again, your probably just old Razz

If you really need it, there is a quite good magnifier with Windows 7. Laughing You can make it follow the mouse (so you get a magnifying box around the cursor. Smile

Thought I would "recycle" this thread instead of making a new one, the power button on my AOC 19" is buggered, don't like it to begin with its 1 of those crappy rubbery-type with a simple switch so was wondering on any input on a new monitor, This one is on special at a local store so if its worth it I can get it ASAP, or this got recommended on a gaming site's newsletter, looking for something 21"-23", don't really want speakers on it, full HD, probably obvious with those sizes but just putting it out there, only for PC, I got a 32" Bravia series V for PS3 use, might not be top of the line anymore but its what we gotta put up with in NZ.
