Heres my setup (dont laugh)

http://www.uktsupport.co.uk/advent/pc/t11.htm

Unfortunately its exactly like this apart from the fact ive now got 2 gigs of ram.

I cannot afford a new rig so i'm after upgrading my Vid card and need advice. To be honest I cannot really afford much more than £150.00 but as ive not upgraded for yonks i'm unsure as to what to go for and indeed what my now pretty old Motherboard will accept.

Any advice is appreciated . thanks

Right first of all.. That processor is one hell of a bottleneck. The best advice I can give to you mate is this : Get a 30-40 quid motherboard which has a faster than 16x PCI slot and supports dual core. Then go for a 1.8-2 ish ghz core 2 duo which will cost around 50-70.. this should bring you up to about 120 ish if you play your cards right.. Then if i where you id wait a while. The chip upgrade will help that rig immensly, and when you can scrape together 100 quid just get an 8800 GTS or GT depending on the price of either. or If you absolutely must have one now, get an 8600 temporarily. It wont handle any top games on high but it will make them playable on medium settings.

Yup Watergem's right. That CPU is gonne rape you. I had a P4 tied with an 8800GTX and it was a total disaster. Half the games ran like I was using a PCI GPU.

I know you say UK only but do you have any shops that offer combo deals like we have here in teh states?

my girlfriend just bought this combo deal

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3738450&CatId=2621

so that with an 8800GT is quite dirt cheap for a system that'll run anything. You could get almost the same setup with a core 2 duo for a bit more. Any dual core really will be worth it. I'm still on an x2 4400 on the 939 socket and an 8800GT and there isn't anything it can't handle
