After some fairly simple research, the BetaInsiders x86 and x64 iso's going around have been found to be the Escrow versions - they are NOT the final code. There are notable differences (including the MD5 and during install, along with the shorter time limit on the official RTM) which prove this. So they are NOT the same RTM versions that are on MSDN/Technet, despite the nfo claims that they are "final". Spread the word, and the BetaInsiders should be nuked given this fact.

So... who will be first to get the real final versions from MSDN out?

Alright, even if this is true, it really doesn't matter, because the activation mechanism hasn't been cracked yet. By the time it is, propers real-propers and god-knows-whats-next-propers will be out.

Shouldn't this be in Operating Systems forum?

Given the sheer number of people downloading it and the fact that there have been no other releases since it went to RTM a couple of days ago, I thought it was important enough that people found out asap and posted it here.
For later reference and checking on this for yourselves,

The official SHA-1 HASH from Technet for the ISO's
X86 - 6ca018ff96f1e9b2b310a36546b6fded99a421e6 (1794MB)
X64 - bd000374709f67e9358814db6ec8f0ddaaa16f70 (2542MB)

The MSDN also doesn't have the "are you sure you this is the version you have" checkbox during install among other things you can use to check. The setup.exe on the BetaInsiders DVD is also 1/13/08 - again this tells you that it is the Escrow version. The sooner we get a proper release the better, and that means getting this information out there.

Hi guys
just an idea
since vista sp1 is very similar( the basic os and kernel) to server 2008.
and some oems use exactly the same method to sell you a preinstalled server 2008 server box.
did anybody try to install the sp1 cracks(fooling the boot loader, not oem driver emulation method) on server 2008 and see if that can activate that sun of bitch server:)?

As far as I know, not many of the Vista cracks work on SP1, but even if they all did, they would not have worked on Server 2008 because of different OEM certificates and serial numbers. If there are indeed OEM versions of Server 2008, it shouldn't take long until they are released. And then this becomes my new OS. It's so much faster than Vista, yet everything I need is there.

found some timer freezer there http://www.thehotfix.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=18828

works for me on MSDN 32bit rlz, should be fine with any rlz.

Since Trial passes WGA, it's like having a geniune rlz except it just says "Windows isn't activated" but I don't care, time is frozen

Enjoy Smile

Think there's some misunderstanding in this thread.

The MSDN hash quoted above (I'm only talking about the x86 releases here) is identical to the hash for a VL edition I downloaded a few weeks ago....so far, so good.

The BetaInsiders release has a hash identical to that of the ISO available for download on the MS site and is, as far as I can see, a Retail version (f3932932e41a0a29b11eb2e4aad6ac7ac1bc565a). As for the date of setup.exe, on my BetaInsiders image it's January 19th, same as all the files & folders in the ISO, so I don't understand the reference to a date of January 13th unless there was more than one release from BetaInsiders.

Ircsum.
