Pretty sure all you need to do is copy your orig firmware to the same spot iprep puts the hacked one and name it the same thing. Otherwise, you can do the restore commands which are in textbooks guide.
I think some people just do it the first way because for whatever reason the restore command doesn't always work. It's been awhile since i looked at it, but i recall these being the options.

PC: i7-4790k @ 4.4, 32GB @ 2400, Nvidia 1080TI FE, 2 TB Crucial MX500 SSD
Nintendo Switch SX OS Pro / PS4 Pro 5.05 Hen/Mira / PS3 Modded / Wii Modded / 360 Pre-Wave4 mod

Does MS really check the FW when you send it for repairs?

No, mine was flashed and it's on its way back to me as we speak.
And about flashiing to original firmware: I don't know the commands but if the command to flahs the drive would be "flash hacked.bin" then couldn't you just place the original firmware in the USB drive or whatever and just "flash original.bin"
That's atleast how simple it is if you have a Hitachi and flash it with FW Toolbox, even though it has a GUI.

if you left the usb key intact all you should need to do is the rben + serial cmd. I would make a copy of the contents of the usb drive first.
Here is some more info:
