|
 |
check out the video:
http://gizmodo.com/338021/wacom-cintiq-12wx-lcd-pen-tablet-video-review-verdict-simply-amazing
just read the note about response time at the bottom of the review in regards to why the video has a drawing lag on it...
been looking into getting a drawing tablet for a while now, not just for design but also for the sake of simplicity... drawing on paper is a pain in the ass, this way i can do concept shit on the pc straight away...
anyway, thoughts? ignore the price on these motherfuckers, id just like to hear if anyones actually heard anything good/bad about them or tried using one or whatever, but this looks like a pretty sweet and useful device for me and im thinking about getting one.

Each Designer at work have one of these
Cintiq 21UX (21")
Reaction time is almost like real time, but of course depends gracrad etc. We are using NV Quadro's at work but.
If you can afford one, the Cintiq 12 WX goes for 1.189,90 EUR, and you are sure you gonna use it, go for it!. I use mine all the time at work, pencil sketch and scan, color and effects in PSCS3 on the 21UX.
Its probably the most professional interactive display on the market.

thanks for the comments capt'n, my main concern was basically if these have a very high quality grade to how theyre made and from the sounds of things (and of course from wacoms reputation) it sure sounds like these are definately every bit worth getting.
i have an 8800gtx, which has two dvi's on it, so i can plug my screen and this pad in at the same time right? now this may seem like a stupid question, but my screen has a really high resolution so requires dual dvi plug to get my 2560x1600 resolution... even though the screen only takes up one dvi plug, will i have problems having my monitor and this pad plugged in at the same time on my card, taking into account the dual dvi requirements of the screen? like i said, silly question, but im wondering if that will interfere with my using the pad and the screen at the same time?

I have exactly the same setting at work. The Cintiq and an old SONY 24" LCD. If I remember correctly it took some fiddling to set it all up. So I have my desktop and stuff on the SONY (sitting on a sort a plinth higher up) and the Cintiq bellow on my desk. So for example when I open CS3 I simply just drag that down from the SONY to the Cintiq. As for the plugs and stuff not sure...I think no problem to tell you the truth, but I am not running those high res at work. Maybe check if Wacom has a forum or a FAQ at least.

yeah i dont think ill have much problem figuring up how to set it up, ive worked with dual screens before, so ill figure this out quick enough im sure.. my main question now is whether ill run into problems with my dual dvi screen as i said... but yeah ill probably just shoot them an email and get them to answer the question i guess.

reminds me of stargate atlantis. the doctor dude carries around that 'tablet', a small, screen interactive computer. pretty cool if they start making those instead of laptops. like just the screen part but have it touch screen
