Quote:
"Red Dawn," John Milius' 1984 tale of a group of American rebels fighting Soviet forces, is a candidate for a remake, studio toppers Harry Sloan and Mary Parent revealed Saturday at the American Pavilion in Cannes.

They also confirmed that 1987's "Robocop" could resurface in a new version.

Hollywood-suitable-for-all-family-action is not something I would like to be applied to Robocop. The original is still fun.
Why remake?

exactly, the original robcop is fine the way it is. Leave it at that.

If they tone it down (language and violence) it wont be robcop anymore

I also liked Red Dawn. Any movie where communists are being fucked up is good Very Happy

Same 'bout Robocop. The first movie was really good, brutal in a way (i luv the one bad guy who is washed in some chemical/radioactive waste and becomes mutant-like before being hit by a car Laughing )

A remake would be nice, but i fear it might be rated PG-13 or some shit Sad That would suck major ass Sad

You know what Vodka? I'm going to ignore the old adage about not shooting the messenger and go ahead and just shoot you. j/k Razz

But seriously, all you seem to be doing these days is bringing bad news about remakes. When are you going to bring some good news. Sad

Actually i think the stopmotion used for ED209 and Cain is perfect, even today.

They are robots, and they are surposed to be a little clunky.

They're still looking for one. Michael De Luca (Ghostrider, Metal Gear Solid, 21, Blade2, Rush Hour 2) is the producer.

yeah heard about that a while back... sigh... be prepared for looong 2 minute shots with nothing happening except a static shot of someones face, or a panning shot of a building or some other slow moving dull 'moody - feely' shot, while we 'feel' what the character is feeling or get some supposidly deep emotional connection or blah blah blah... sorry... not a fan of his... i didnt mind pi, it was interesting enough, but shit, i want this to be a really fun full on b-movie type action film, with loads of action and a thoughtful look at society, just like the first one was... hes not the director for that, i cant for the life of me figure out why they went with him... surely other directors were interested, he couldnt have been the only one who wanted to do it.

Requiem for a Dream was actually a nice movie. It had a really nice view of the society.

I think Arnofsky includes his "feel" scenes where its approbiate, I wouldnt be surprised if he actually did a Verhoven-eque film with a more gritty approach (as the trend). Also remember that he actually was attached to Batman Begins before Nolan, but his screenplay was decline as it was to dark for Warner Bros.
