I have a realtec AC888 sound card on my Dell Inspiron which i bought a month or so ago. The default drivers that came with the machine worked fine and then i decided to reinstall Doom 3 after years of not playing it.

Now the movies i love to watch on my computer sound funny, and my simpsons/american dad sound weird as if the background and foreground sounds are amplified but the "talking" is at a very low volume which proves almost unwatchable. I have now uninstalled doom3 to no avail, and formatted and installed winxp SP3 back on but the same problem is there. Is there a simple thing i am missing here? A Relatek setting somewhere?? I have tried to play with the different presets but its knackered.

Now that you installed Doom 3 you HAVE TO finish it and defeat all the demons. Then the hissing sound will stop.
