My Coolermaster eXtreme Power 550W is starting to rattle, so I think I may change it for the Silverstone Strider 650W I bought off a friend a while back but it hasn't got a 4 pin so was wondering if the local PC store would have a converter/adapter of some sort (Kinda new to PSUs).

Oh and its a Zeus, sorry friend gave me his PSUs box and the PSU doesn't have the name on it just a serial and I don't have money to burn, I bought this 650W for $200 from a friend a while back but didn't use it because it didn't have a 4 pin, the 1 that goes into the P4 on the Mobo.

You misread, I bought it last year but never used it, therefore a buying a Tagan would be burning money since I already have a perfectly working one that is missing 1 cable, if I can sort that out then all should be well, but now that bastard Coolermaster has stopped rattling and has taken to just cutting, out of nowhere it just stops, I'm 100% against Coolermaster now, first their crappy internal drives aren't that great now the PSU starts rattling and cuts.

I recommend OCZ PSUs. 600W should be enough, but you decide.

Sad, I'm not looking for a new one, I was just curious if this SilverStone Zeus 650W was useless because of the lack of a 4 pin to power the motherboard or whether it could dealt with and used and its not that I never have money to burn, its just at this moment, with Rainbow Six Vegas 2 (Crappy port but hey), Assassin's Creed (Yeah, initial hype, after playing it, it becomes pretty crappy), Age Of Conan, and a few others I'm kind of strapped for cash, now saving up so I don't go into debt, once I'm out of the deep water then I'll get a Tagan or OCZ, whichever is best.

EDIT: This is what I was on about http://www.playtool.com/pages/psuconnectors/12v4pinadapter.jpg

P.S. Are Antec any good? I think I read somewhere Enermax was good, not great.

Worth reading reviews of PSU's, many of them share the same innards with only minor differences like heatsinks etc

Tagan are good as has been said. I pushed one really hard and it lasted a few years before dying, but it did die and it's the only PSU I've had which hasn't retired gracefully..

Antec's reputation for PSU's has lessened slightly over the past few years but they still make good ones. I went through a few PSU's when trying to replace the tagan and returned a Hiper-M series and an OCZ stealthXstream before settling on an antec truepower which I'm happy with.

Enermax are meant to be good but cost a small premium.

The OCZ had good innards but was hardly stealth

You should be able to get an adapter to convert a 20pin motherboard connector to 24pin? or are we talking about an atx 12v connector? can get a simple molex adapter for that

must be a fairly old model of PSU to not have the right connections..

Yeah, the ATX 12V, didn't know the name of it, asked at the local stores and no dice, kind of annoyed now because I would much rather use the Silverstone, my friend said it worked fine for him, well atleast now I will have a backup when the other PSU gets back, I had to buy a new 1 cause I can't be bothered doing waiting 2 days while I got AoC around, 30 free days from launch they say, not from making the account they say, full of downtimes they say, meh, aslong as it works, can't say the same for my computer, starting to really tick me off.

P.S. Thanks for that input suicid4l.
