|
 |
Hey guys, I've looked everywhere I can think of for a solution. I've looked at official forums, other forums, Google and what not. So I'm trying to start Mass Effect, un-cracked or cracked doesn't matter for this error it seems, and I get this error:
Application failed to initialize, 0xc0000005. I looked at Event Viewer and found:
Faulting application MassEffect.exe, version 1.0.14184.0, time stamp 0x4820dbae, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 6.0.6001.18000, time stamp 0x4791a7a6, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x00009cac, process id 0x1678, application start time 0x01c8c47ec14b3d05.
I don't see what the problem is. I've reinstalled, even manual install using the guide at the official forums. I can't seem to get the game to launch, original or cracked. Oh, on Vista Ult. here.

no idea what all that crap means, but maybe try updating windows? ntdll.dll is a windows system file and has nothing to do with the game so i think the fault lies with windows.

Wa5t3d could be correct based on the error faulting ntdll.dll, This fault generally is blaimed upon faulty 3rd party software. Generally though winrar should detect a faulty download though. Although their are other causes some fixes are rather troublesome though.

it should install that package when you install the game, if not you can reinstall it from the dvd in the X:\software\VisualCRT folder

i would run some addware/spyware scans too, that can cause the 0xc0000005 (Memory Access Violation) error too.

I ran virus scan yesterday actually. And of course, its always running. I have NOD32 and it did not detect anything. And the one from the CD does not work for Vista. I will try to install the C++ 2008 redistributable. However, as I said, I already have Visual Studio so I don't see why I would need it.

Spyware is not the same as viruses and trojans, and NOD32 doesn't catch them. Get Spybot S&D.

Hmm so C++ 2008 Redist. did not seem to fix the problem. The event log still says the same thing. Not sure if it will help but the Event ID is 1000 in Event Viewer.

Already in Admin mode. I even tried Compatibility mode.
Edit: Installed Spybot S&D and only found 9 ad-ware. Removed and re-installing Mass Effect. Though I doubt that was the problem.
Edit2: Nope, still same error. Rebooted too.
