BURNOUT PARADISE.......... The most awesome game for "not sim car fanatics".
Or for that matter other burnout games.

I consider myself pretty decent at drifting, both in games and IRL
My first tip is - Get Forza 2.
Learn to drift there, then many games just gets easier.
When you're good at drifting in FM2, you have so much fun! Seeing your drifting skills evolve and slowly getting better is an awesome feeling
Then again i mainly practiced drifting in the Gran Turismo-games. With all assists off in those games, its slippery as fuck So drifting in FM2 wasn't so difficult, it all comes down to experience ofcourse.
My tips on the driving itself:
- Learn to limit yourself - 98% of your spin outs is because you either enter the corner with too much speed, or just slam the throttle too soon. Easy does it, then you learn as you go when you can really floor it.
- This also applies to the brakes, never brake 100% (unless the situation needs it)
- Try to find what initiation style fits you the best
* Feint: Steer in one direction, then quickly to other side to "whip" out the rear end of the car, then drift from there
* Handbrake: I see you've already tried this, but don't overuse it, holding it for too long will most likely ruin the drift
* Power over: Exactly what it says, when you have a powerful car, you just slam the accelerator and you lose traction from all the power to the wheels
- Don't use a too powerful car, you'll just have a harder time adjusting all the power to not spin out.
These tips mainly applies to FM2, since drifting in GRiD is way too arcadey and ridiculously easy
Oh, and if you do get FM2 (I REALLY RECOMMEND IT), let me know! So i can send you some drift-tuned cars
Watercooled 5950X | AORUS Master X570 | Asus RTX 3090 TUF Gaming OC | 64Gb RAM | 1Tb 970 Evo Plus + 2Tb 660p | etc etc

Hay SiN, I got FM2, and I drift sometimes, but I don't got any good drifting cars.
Wanna send some to me?
I hate you.
