Fuck you Sony for closing a Studio that gave me and others games that will live long in our memories, one of the best Amiga studios that I loved. Can't convey how DEEPLY saddened I am by this. Psygnosis was one of the landmark studios that hugely contributed to the original Playstation's success. W1p3out, G-Police, Destruction Derby, and MANY other games in their catalogue are still played by gamers to this day. I can't fathom what insane logic Sony used to close such a profitable and experienced studio. I know Sony is taking some drastic measures to stop hemoraging cash, but after this bit of news I really gotta question Sony's leadership. It seems like they dote on Santa Monica Studio as if it were the greatest thing since sliced walkman, despite doing absolutely NOTHING except for tossing a new God of War every few years. It just also happens to be Sony's focus testing office and every now and then someone will help with UI or XMB support for other studios. Sony has a horrible track record of putting it's own ears to the ground to know what is happening in their own studios, and if it wants to solve it's cash problems that would be a good place to start.

It has been reported that Sony Studio Liverpool has been closed. Founded in 1984 as Psygnosis the developer is responsible for the much loved Wipeout series as well as my favourite the Destruction Derby series.
Originally rumoured on GR Arcade forums the news has since been confirmed with a lead audio designer for Sony tweeting the news stating, “End of an era today for Studio Liverpool. Honoured to have been a part of it.” Back in 2010 the studio went under heavy restructuring following what Sony called “project prioritisation” cancelling a number of projects in the process.
We’re still waiting on an official comment from Sony themselves, but if true this is sad news indeed. More as we hear it.
So you love them for what they have done a million years ago. Then haven't done shit lately that i know of, so it doesn't really matter. I loved destruction derby, drakan and g-police!
The Psygnosis owl has been a mascot for my youth I loved their games, from the early C64 titles right the way up to the AMAZING PlayStation/PC G-Police and Wipeout. Even games published by Psygnosis are some of my favourites, like Alundra
@Stormwolf
That's not true. Psygnosis carried on the Wipeout legend with PSP/PS3 releases and they're still damned fun
I liked wipeout as a kid, and tried one on arcade on the 360, but i didn't like it at all :/ dunno if the series has changed for the worse, or it's just my taste that has changed.
