Gamers step into a third-person sci-fi survival horror experience that promises to deliver the ultimate in psychological thrills and gruesome action. Set in the cold blackness of deep space, the atmosphere is soaked with a feeling of tension, dread and sheer terror. In Dead Space, players step into the role of engineer Isaac Clarke – an ordinary man on a seemingly routine mission to fix the communications systems aboard a deep space mining ship. It is not long before Isaac awakes to a living nightmare when he learns that the ship's crew has been ravaged by a vicious alien infestation. He must fight through the dead silence and darkness of deep space to stay alive.

Code:
The player must fight their way through various levels of a stricken mining ship, which has been infested with an alien species known as the 'Necromorphs'. The game features an 'over the shoulder' third-person perspective, similar to games such as Resident Evil 4 and Gears of War. The interface does not feature a traditional 'heads up display'. Instead, information is relayed to the player via lights and translucent screens which hover over Isaac's weapons and armour.
The player will encounter weightless and decompressed environments, which Isaac can navigate using a pressurized suit, dubbed The Rig by EA (revealed in Official Xbox Magazine, April 2008)[citation needed] equipped with magnetic boots. Some levels will even lead out onto the surface of the ships hull. Floating debris will present a hazard, and Isaac can lose his footing and simply float off into space. In keeping with Isaac's profession as an engineer rather than a soldier, weapons in the game are mostly improvised, and consist of an array of bolt cutters, stasis guns and rudimentary energy weapons.
Combat in the game is complicated by the fact that Necromorphs are not simply rendered 'dead' after a certain number of rounds have been fired at them. Rather, they can adopt new stances and tactics, and even sprout new limbs, based upon where they have been wounded. Hence, the player must find and exploit specific weak points. The game's Executive Producer, Glen Schofield, has said that 'the primary theme of Dead Space is dismemberment', and early previews of the game have noted the high levels of gore.
Synopsis
Code:
The game's plot revolves around Isaac Clarke, a space engineer who works for the Concordance Extraction Corporation (C.E.C), a company that operates "giant mining ships" throughout the galaxy. His company receives a distress call from the USG Ishimura, a “Planet Cracker” class ship that destroys planets in order to extract valuable ore. Assuming that the ship has had a mechanical failure, Isaac and two other C.E.C employees set out to rendezvous with the Isimura. They soon discover that the ship has been overrun by a hostile alien race. After boarding the ship, Clarke is separated from his party and must battle his way through various hazardous environments to safety. Based on the two graphic art videos released for the game, it seems that a mysterious "artifact" had been found near one of the colony planets and was brought aboard the Isimura despite the fact that it seemed to make the miners who extracted it go insane. This artifact seems to not only play a large role in the games story but also seems to be closely followed by a cult, known as unitologists

Dead Space Trailer - Strategic Dismemberment ( Last trailer launched)!
Looks very promising ,graphic is charming... will definitly keep my eyes on that.
And i like these sience fiction versus alien surival type games alot.
But tomorrow i get a friends ps3 and will beat MGS4, sry for offtopic but im so exited.^^
EA is improving a lot. They fixed a lot of the mistakes they made with Redwood Shores, and they're treating their employees much better now, and are giving creative teams much more freedom.
Damn, I'm impressed! The dismemberment is NICE and I really like the lightning in some places. Like the corridor part from 1:35 with the 'search light' sort of scanning the area, it gives a cool atmosphere to it. And the zero gravity part looks fun too!

Actually this game can be a good reason to continue hating EA.
EA holds the rights for the system shock franchise.

De ja vu huh?
EA prefers swimming in the shallow waters of the average games instead of using the huge potential that is lying in their hands and creating another masterpiece.
I love how all the cool kids hate EA, but it's still one of the oldest and the biggest (or second biggest ?) publishers.
I think the haters have some valid reasons. Though I'd say we shouldn't hate a game only because it's from EA, they can still put out good stuff. And let's not forget Doug Church is there now too, working on some game that I'm sure is gonna be awsome in the biggest secret.
I doubt this will be a scary game but it looks like some good fun. And I also hope for a good PC version.
edit: mark322, yeah, they have some really talented people, it's a shame they don't use them. Oh well, at least they made one good move, puting Gina Carano into RA3.

And have chosen to leave what was a perfect duology of games alone, rather than possibly tainting it's legacy by having it continued by a different team than the originals. Good move, I'd say. They actually DID start making System Shock 3, but decided that without Looking Glass, it just wouldn't be the same.

System Shock didn't invent the cliche of a lone dude fighting deformed human monsters in derelict spaceships, either, ya know.

Spore. SPORE. SSSPPPOOORRREEE. I think they're all tied up creating the next great masterpiece with that game, thank you very much.
EA has become what it is because of Larry Probst. If it wasn't for him, the company wouldn't have changed as much when Trip Hawkins left to make the 3DO company.
You realise it's going to have ridiculous copy protection like "Alone In the Dark 5"
Well that doesn't mean it won't remain uncracked. By the time this game is released the whole protection may be worth as much as used toilet paper. Even if its not it does look to be a decent game and I'm certainly going to keep my eye on it for now and may purchase it when its released.
