I ordered all necessary parts for building another puter, everything brand new, mobo, cpu, memory, hdd, fans, power supply, the chassi/case... but heres my problem. I've connected everything without problem, everything correctly assembled according to the manual.. but NO POWER!... the fans spins for 1/10 of a second and then nothing, the status led on the mobo is on but everything else is dead..
just cant figure this out.

any help?

Could be a couple of things...

actually i figured it out just now... i forgot to attach the distance thingies for the mobo, so the fucker short circuited all the time.. took out the mobo and attached the distanceblahas and then screwed the mobo to it again.. all fans are spinning, the hdd is working... works like a charm Smile

or not. now nothing appears on the screen, have absolutely no clue whats wrong.. tried with 3 different monitors, checked the cables, made sure the gfxcard was fastened tight.. nothing. bleh i feel like throwing the fucking puter out the window Sad

You probably damaged the mobo or a component. If your lucky thats the only thing that went poof on you. As you said, you shorted it out which spells instant death on these fragile electronic parts.

Still, try changing the gfx card etc, maybe you'll get something working, then RMA the fried part (if there are no visible flaws)...good luck!

or check if the cpu is correctly inserted in the socket. I had this once, the computer didn't show a screen, everything else was running (fans, hd's, so power wasn't the problem). I used a port80h diagnostic card to check the pc and it showed that the bios couldn't init the cpu. The cpu was not fully inserted on one side, i was lucky that no pins were broken and the cpu worked after that.

I don't have any other graphics cards lying around so i'll have to try with the card i have in this computer.. :/

"port80h diagnostic card?" expensive thing? what is it? Very Happy

EDIT: removed the cpu and fan to check that everything is right, and it is.. no broken pins etc. and it's attached correctly.. gonna kill this puter and try the gfx card now.

EDIT2: doesnt work with another gfx card or with other memorysticks...

i plugged the speaker in according to the manual, should be the right pins and so on.. but still i can't be sure as i cant get the puter running so i could TEST it Very Happy

anyways, gonna send the mobo back and hope for a new one.. if the company decides I broke it i'm just gonna have to buy a new one. :/

Depends on what you actualy done Razz! Most of the experiences Ive had with shops (online mainly) have been me sending it back, them waitting a month, testing it, if they dont see an issue they ring/e-mail asking me whats wrong, I point out how wrong they are and they send me a new one.

Takes ages though Sad! Good luck!
