Spoiler:
“We have listened and responded to gamers and football fans around the world by building customized gameplay experiences for FIFA 09 on each platform,” said Andrew Wilson, Vice President & Executive Producer for the franchise. “Everyone wants to play a football game that is customized to their system and delivers a unique and enjoyable experience. We understand that and have innovated features, created new modes and designed controls that are tailored to each specific platform.”
With over 250 additions and enhancements to core gameplay, FIFA 09 on the PLAYSTATION 3 system and Xbox 360 deliver an authentic football simulation that enables you to customize the game to suit your style and ability. New animation technology creates more responsive first-time shooting and passing, faster and more controlled dribbling, and improved trapping. New player momentum physics, which exploits the power of these platform engines, delivers realistic player collisions, authentic jostling for the ball, and more variation in tackling.
“We listened to our consumers to make the changes that they wanted,” said David Rutter, Producer of FIFA 09 on the PLAYSTATION 3 system and Xbox 360. “No other game has over 250 feature changes and additions focused on improving core gameplay. We have an absolutely authentic recreation of the real sport through attention to detail.”
For the first time, go inside the game engine to customize the strategy and positioning of your teammates to decide exactly how your team will play in any situation. With new Custom Team Tactics you have all the tools to become a first-team coach. Adjust and customize tactical settings so CPU players and your team perform just like the real-world team plays and make strategic decisions to exploit your opponent’s weaknesses, all on-the-fly. The popular feature innovation Be A Pro has expanded to a career mode called Be A Pro: Seasons where you can choose or create a professional player and then develop his skills at a single outfield position over four years with the ultimate goal of becoming a national legend. The matchday experience is now true-to-life with a referee and linesmen on the pitch. Plus, crowds, stadium atmosphere and commentary have all been regionalized in exact detail.
On the Wii, enjoy FIFA 09 All-Play one of two ways—a Wii-specific take on the authentic ‘11 vs. 11’ simulation or over-the-top ‘8 vs. 8’ arcade action within a stylized environment with Mii™ versions of your favorite superstars, like Ronaldinho and Wayne Rooney. Refined motion and point-and-play controls make playing FIFA 09 All-Play even more intuitive and perfectly balanced for gamers of any ability to enjoy fun, football action. Choose to play the style that best suits your skills from advanced controls for experienced players to new EA SPORTS™ All-Play controls that enables novice players to focus on fun using simplified controls with AI assistance.
“You’ve never played football like this before,” said Kaz Makita, Line Producer of FIFA 09 All-Play. “Our new ‘8 vs. 8’ Footii Match enables you to play an exaggerated style of football where the personality of your Mii comes to life. You can play with your Mii characters against or alongside some of the biggest stars in a truly unique football experience tailored specifically for the Wii version of FIFA 09.”
FIFA 09 on PC now features leading-edge visuals that deliver graphics that exploit the power of hi-spec gaming PCs, as requested by PC gamers. Star players are featured in photorealistic quality with remodeled likenesses for ultra-realistic gameplay. FIFA 09 on PC also features customizable mouse gameplay controls that deliver deeper, more intuitive command over your squad. Plus, customizable widgets are now integrated into the menu system to connect you to the FIFA community and real-world football so you stay connected while playing FIFA 09.
“We are committed to investing and innovating to create a PC specific experience,” said Producer Paul Hossack. “Gamers want a gameplay experience exclusively for PC and FIFA 09 on PC delivers this.”
With 500 new animation sequences and all-new collision and shielding systems—representing the biggest innovations to the multiplatform EA SPORTS football engine in four years— FIFA 09 delivers more responsive, intelligent and realistic physical action on the PlayStation 2 system. The new collision detection system with 360 degree coverage enables players to behave according to their physical attributes where player speed, direction and strength determine everything from the severity of the collision to the outcome of possession. Changes to the animation system reward the skillful gamer during one-on-one situations between attackers and defenders. Tuned acceleration attributes enable swifter virtual players to possess quicker first steps and gain advantage in sprints. Plus, four new skill moves—scoop turns, rainbow flicks, heel-to-heel knocks and ball rolls—give you a total of 32 tricks in your arsenal to perform just like Ronaldinho.
FIFA 09 on the PSP system and Nintendo DS now include the innovative Be A Pro feature, including the unique Be A Pro camera that re-creates the rush and excitement of racing in on goal, designed exclusively for each system.
Additional major feature innovations for PLAYSTATION 3, Xbox 360 and PC will be revealed later this month and announced at the Leipzig Games Convention in August.
So erm.. does this mean IF users on the Xbox360 dont have Live or are banned they wont be able to have the additional languages to download and use?
i highly doubt that's the case, it's not that many words per language
names , ground info , little facts / stats add up to quite a bit of audio with fifa games
if your banned from xbl or more importantly don't have an internet connection you could be well and truly fucked so Can't see this shipping that way surely :s

but you know what Chinese whispers are like; some newbie will read your comment and suddenly run and spread it all over the internet that the new 2010 Banwave disables all your XBLA games when you're banned.
that is absolutely gr8 news...and since my league members are all on ps3, that makes this one more reason to get the PS3 version. So when is it coming out?
FIFA Soccer 09 is now powered with dynamic real-world data and analytics, lifting the game to new heights of authenticity for soccer fans and gamers connected online. The adidas Live Season service will redefine the soccer videogame experience by dynamically updating player form in-game on a weekly basis so that player attributes mirror real-world performances.
The service is based on how real players performed in the most recent real-world matches. Gameplay will change dynamically as the performance of players and soccer teams in the real world experience the highs and lows during their campaigns.
A global network of scouts will monitor every player in the adidas Live Season leagues throughout the season to supply accurate and in-depth player and team data each week. Player attributes will be impacted and player performance will change dynamically.
The adidas Live Season service is downloaded into FIFA Soccer 09 each week and will run from the launch of the game to the end of the 2008-2009 season.
Developed in Burnaby, B.C., by EA Canada, FIFA Soccer 09 is localized in 18 languages and sold in 37 countries–-it is the most popular franchise globally for EA SPORTS. FIFA Soccer 09 is not yet rated by the ESRB and is rated 3+ by PEGI. It will be available in stores world wide in October.
you mean paid x360 addons , EA never gave something for free
Army of Two has free maps
Battlefield Bad Company has free maps, gameplay mode
Rockband has a couple of free tracks in its store
Burnout Paradise has a couple free addons coming (ones already out)
...And those are the only 4 EA games I own, so I don't know about any other titles.
Do your research scrub, EA's changin' for the better. Start picking on Ubishit or something.
And for those of you crying about extra languages...when the fuck did you ever play a game in two different languages? Seriously.. Buy the game in your country of origin and quit your bitching, localized versions will still exist. Lol, a rip? I'd rather have more game related content on the disc than some piece of shit japanese language pack.
The FIFA 09 demo will be available for download on September 11 worldwide on the PLAYSTATION®Network and Xbox LIVE™.
Not long to go now!
Xbox 360 and PS3 Demos will include the following:
Full exhibition match with the following 6 teams available. If the match ends in a draw, it will go directly to penalties.
1. Marseille
2. Schalke
3. Real Madrid
4. Chelsea
5. AC Milan
6. Toronto FC
Both versions unveil the new Team Management feature: Custom Tactics, giving the player a chance to sample tactical options in each of the key categories (Build Up, Chance Creation, and Defence).
The Playstation 3 demo features the FIWC Stadium, while 360 features New Wembley.
looking forward to pes more tbh , can't be any worse than last years

this game is superb..just the little bits make it too...the studs sound as the teams are coming out..the off the ball collisions..the clapping of the opposition when you get booked..the new free kick system..custom tactics...fuking game of the year
what so better to all other fifa's,plays the same which is the problem, pes gameplay is miles better always has been
Ive followed PES since the early days when it was ISS on the playstation and you are right it has always been superior in gameplay over FIFA..but PES hasnt changed since PES 6 if anything it has got slightly worse..I feel PES 2008 was slightly better than FIFA 08 due to FIFA 08 lack of responsiveness..When Euro 08 came out I felt this was a big improvement and felt better than both FIFA and PES 08...FIFA 09 is a different kettle of fish altogether with slick responsive gameplay, superb animations and great presentation.
Add to that all the other game modes and online features and you have one hell of a game for any football fan..
Now I havnt played PES 2009 so I cannot judge but I do know that Konami have lost more licences and what I have read they have still not stepped up to Next Gen as EA have.
At the end of the day Konami have sat on the laurells and just havnt stepped up, invested in their product or took on board customer feedback to the same standards that EA have. I know where I'll be spending my money this year
yeah fair enough but until konami gets right to licensces there ain't much they can do about kits,i ofcourse patched pes2008 and had proper kits so worst case scenario i do it again, but yeah fifa is getting better but gameplay still lacks something just not sure what
The new PES has the champions league license, plus they have some big teams like Man Utd licensed - and the whole of Spanish football, Italian and so forth is licensed too. It's just a lot of smaller EPL teams.
What PES has over FIFA is depth. It's something EA don't know how to do. If you're a PES player YOU KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. If you aren't then it doesn't matter, FIFA is all you need. When the new PES comes out, warts an all, I'll be playing that but FIFA is fun online and it does (as always) have some innovative features and gameplay value... it's just not FOOTBALL, it doesn't have that Sports Interactive longevity to it where you get immersed into the digital world.

But you are talking of PES and ISS of old and the Winning Eleven Series and I agree with you ..PES 08 certainly didnt have that feeling
It wasn't as good a feeling, but it still had it in relative spades compared to FIFA (which I own for the PS3 - and currently play, so I'm not biased against it). I was very disappointed with the previous PES and I'm not very hopeful the new one is going to be any better - but if I want that PES fix I'm going to have to go to PES because FIFA doesn't provide it. All the players, teams (etc) are the same, nothing is dynamic or meaningful. Which isn't to say FIFA is shit, it's just different. I now look forward to both since the improved FIFA 08,
